You can thank Rooney for that.. little bugger got hostile and violent right infront of the ref. How selfish.

Well, typical England.

Out in the quarter-final.

Crap manager Sven plays garbage serie A tactics throughout the tournament, completely at odds with the temperment of the Premiership, then choke in the penalties.

So, so typical.

Frankly, England weren't good enough. For all the talent they had, they didn't play well. And I blame it on that charlatan of a manager.

God, I've never felt so depressed in my life since the last time I felt so depressed.

Considering that England were down to 10 men for the last 25 minutes plus the 30 minutes of extra time I think we did well to prevent the Portuguese from scoring. We fought and battled in the typical English way when we were down to ten men and we didn't deserve to lose in the end.

But, England just can't take penalties. Only Holland have a worse record in penalty shoot-outs.

Still, as long as Brazil, and not the Portuguese, French, Germans or Italians win the World Cup I'll be happy.

Shut up.

The Portuguese were far dirtier than the English. At least the English didn't roll around on the floor in agony when one of them broke a nail. Ronaldo was an absolute disgrace. They are just typical of Continental Europeans "ladies" who play football. Maybe they should play in handbags and dresses in their next game.

The English always try to play by the rules - we are renowned for fair play - except when Rooney got a little angry. It won't do any harm for the Portuguese, the Germans, the Italians and the French to play more honestly like the English.

Not as ecstatic as they were when the US got knocked out of the competition. You know how anti-American the French and Germans can be.

The Portugese, the Italians, the Argentines all played dirty.. but Rooney was an idiot, becoming hostile infront of the ref.. and don't tell me to shut up.

It's all good though.. Deutschland Wird Weltmeister! (ohne holland).

Bah, we have no soccer team to speak of, we never expected to get anywhere, getting as far as we did was a surprise. Come on Blackleaf you know everybody hates you in Europe.

Rubbish. Britain, and Poland, are probably the two most pro-American countries in Europe.

To be honest, England was out played. Rooney didn't help matters by getting himself thrown out. It was partly the ref's fault because that Portuguese player was all over Rooney like a rash. I thought the ref should have called something but Rooney acted like a fool and just about begged for the red card.

Neither team had much of a finishing touch around the net. England was beaten soundly in the shoot out.

Now I have to cheer for Germany

Neither team looked like they were gonna score in the first half. Both keepers didn't even have to make a decent save. I think during the first half, Robinson was sitting in the net having a cup of tea.

But England were heroic after Rooney was sent off. Portugal had 11 men against 10 for 55 minutes, but they failed to take advantage of it and couldn't score. They defended well - one of England's strong points - and just would let Portugal score. So I think in the end, England didn't deserve to lose. It's just a pity that it went to a penalty shoot-out because England can't do penalties. I don't know why.

And I don't know what it is about Rooney and Portugal. England played Portugal in the Quarter Final of Euro 2004 and went off injured. Then he nearly missed the World Cup when a Portuguese Chelsea player broke his foot when Chelsea played Manchester United on 29th April, but he made a quick recovery and played in the World Cup. And then in this game, he was sent off. So there has been a bit of history between Rooney and Portugal.
