Sorry, I lost track of things while I was doing my dishes (while smoking a Cigar 8O).
Celebrating a very fine soup I made earlier.

Are we going to take this back to the Celebration for the Canadian Woman's
Hockey Team?

I quite agree, talloola. That is what I said at the very beginning (2nd or 3rd post in the thread) of the thread. Athletes smoking? What were they thinking.

So when they say that they don’t smoke, I believe them. However, one again has to see how it will look to the teenagers. They only hear that the players have been smoking cigars. Now, whether cigars or cigarettes is irrelevant, the operative word here is smoking. That gives teenagers the message that smoking is cool.

No, I disagree with you on this one SJP, they weren't
smoking at all, no cigarettes came out at all, just
cigars, and to this point in time, no teenagers have
taken up cigars from seeing anyone else with them, and
if they try one and 'inhale', they will never try one
again, 'remember, no inhaling when using a cigar', so
the message from haley is 'none of us on the team smoke',
said by her in the apology, pretty clear to me, so when
you keep on about impressionable teenagers, it doesn't
make any sense, because they were not smoking cigarettes.
The message for me is this, 'none of the players on team
canada smoke', good for them, that will be remembered by
the teenagers, not the cigars, which are 'not' actually
smoked at all.

the women's hockey does not smoke, cigars were brought
out for a fun time after game, as haley said mostly
for props, they won't be using them again.

I beleive Haley when she says the team doesn't smoke, there
is 'no' reason for her to say they don't, if they do.
If you want to keep insisting they do smoke because they
had cigars, do so, that is your preogative, but I will respect
her words.

smoke comes out of mouth = smoking. were bouth out for fun or not they did techially smoke. look it up. I hope they don't do it again. All you need to do it is once. and your hook.

My brother, my dad smokes and i also believe my grandpa somkes as well. I know my friends smoke. I hate it....

i love them to stop but there not going to.

Edit: why don't we just agree to disagree??? cause this is going to go on and on.

Let us not discuss what Spade said, JLM, I am sure he is quite capable of speaking for himself. You read his post your way, I will read it my way.

But I agree with him that there has been plenty of piling on here, and I maintain that many of those who disagree with the behavior posted one post and then shut up, not wanting to face the piling on.

As to me, well I thrive on piling on.

It's senseless to discuss Spade's post- it's there in black and white for everyone to see, so there's nothing to discuss and there's only one way to read it so if you read it differently you are hallucinating.

I got hooked. For almost 30 years. But I'll tell you what - it never once occurred to me to blame someone else for smoking within my sight. And when I was young, it was pretty damn common to see idols of all sorts smoking.... And I'll tell you what else - if anyone anywhere ever takes up smoking because they saw one of our gals celebrating with a cigar I suggest we all take a moment to observe Darwinism in action. Good friggin gawd.

... hmmmm I wonder if the leeches will follow the men around waiting for something to hang them for as they celebrate.

Who knows... maybe someone will catch up to the athletes celebrating with that
Emergency shipment of condoms headed to Olympic athletes:

Health officials in Vancouver have already provided 100,000 free condoms to the roughly 7,000 ahtletes and officials at the Games. That's about 14 condoms per person. But as of Wednesday, those supplies started running dangerously low.
.......
Go Canada!! :canada:

Not buying that. If anything, I'd expect quite the opposite response from kids today than what we might have seen when I was young. Kids nowadays are waaaaay more savey about all kinds of things in life that we were sheltered from. They know what's going on and I'm pretty sure if you asked any one of them if they're tempted to take up smoking now that they've seen the Canadian Women's Hockey team have a few puffs they'd ask what you've been smoking. :p
