I think that the idea is good if the right people switch to green power. The power companies should be the ones switching to green power. If they switched and merged the new supply with the old supply, the price would not rise as much as it is. It is the people cutting the power companies out, to get off the grid, that are causing the rise in prices. But, that is socialism I think.
The Power companies would switch to green power in a heart beat ( in part or in whole) if it would produce cheaper power for the consumer.
That's the point, it's not economical under any scenario!!

Wind turbines may have hidden hazards –New Report from UCLA

Wind Turbines and Ghost Stories: The Effects of Infrasound on the Human Auditory System

High levels of infrasound and low frequency sounds generated by wind turbines pose a potentially serious threat to communities near wind farms.

Wind energy companies remain largely dismissive, claiming that wind turbine noise is subaudible, undetectable by humans, and therefore presents minimal risk to human health.

However, various cochlear microphonic, distortion product otoacoustic emission, and fMRI studies have demonstrated the detection of infrasound by the human inner ear and auditory cortex. Additional psychosomatic stress and disorders, including the “wind turbine syndrome” and paranormal experiences, are also linked to infrasound exposures. 2,3 With wind turbines generating substantial levels of infrasound and low frequency sound, modifications and regulations to wind farm engineering plans and geographical placements are necessary to minimize community exposure and potential human health risks.

When they made talk of that about the ELF Radio towers in the US they where tagged conspiracy nuts and banned from the forums.

I don't think so. Does that mean its true?
That's the litmus test for some people that can not fathom the larger picture.

It doesn't matter what other costs that may be applicable, environmental or health wise.

It dudn't kill no bodies yet, so all's good in Alberta, durp.

It's a ridiculous position to take.

Interesting article.
Copy/paste;

Ever notice how the places that are in the deepest financial trouble — Europe, California in the U.S., Ontario in Canada — are the ones that fell hardest for the myth of green energy?

Can't say that I have considering that some of the largest users include Germany, China, and India. This is selective use of data, as the US for example is also the largest user of carbon fuels. Maybe you are simply looking in the wrong direction.

Cool. We buy wind power from AB cheap and we sell hydro power to the Yanks and rake in the dough.

You have no idea how this works or how crazy it is,not many do,Alta sells power to BC,they sell it to the usa or back to us when we need it.Power flows both ways on the Alta/bc grid and also to the states.

When Im not working in the oil patch I work for Altalink, they operate all the big transmission lines into BC.
Since deregulation it's only going to get more expensive for power.
I know it is going to get brutal soon for prices, that's why I want to go total solar in a year, get off the grid, these power companies are going to make a lot of folks homeless.
I see enough of the seniors in my small town getting the red tags from enmax that their power was shut off for non payment.
Very sad,10 years ago they would phone and maybe arrange a payment plan, now they just cut them off.

Those deer whistles dont work,I got the wife a set,she hit 2 deer, got the car fixed, new whistles, hit 2 more deer the next week.

"Wind turbines may have hidden hazards"

I have deer whistles on my truck. Seems to make the deer stay away.

As far as sound having a negative effect on people goes, there's this effect called "white noise" http://simplynoise.com/ that might help out.
Those deer whistles work like a champ. You have to install them correctly mind you.

roflmao How would you know what I have an idea about or not? I don't think you have any idea about how I work nor about how crazy you are.

Sorry, but BC gets no power from the States.

Kind of funny, but I think the whistles also keep small critters and large birds (like those low-flying aircraft called great horned owls) away from my truck. I bet if those wind whackers had one or two on them, critters would stay away. It'd be worth a try anyway.
