Hey, listen up even if BMD will cause an arms race, Nobody's going to suspect canada of anything since we don't have an adequet military in the first place. The only people who will be in the arm's race are the Americans, Russians and the Chinese. It won't be Canada's fault if we get into this new race it will be America's for being bloody hyporcytes and telling everyone to "disarm tyour WMD or will come after you with are WMD"!!! 8O

The decision in principle to support the U.S. missile defense system is morally wrong. As it is an affirmation of the Pentagon’s plan to impose U.S. ‘values and interests’ (the interests of the U.S. industrial-military complex) on a global basis. Building an effective, robust, layered, global system of missile defenses is a pre-requisite for maintaining American pre-eminence. Unrestricted use of space has become a major strategic interest of the United States. The ability to assure access to space, freedom of operation within the space medium, and an ability to deny others the use of space. The multi-layered anti-missile system, of which the final step is to be the installation of weapons of mass destruction, will prove to be very unsettling to other powers and will inevitably contribute to a new arms race.

The U.S. plan for unilateral world dominance is totally contrary to Canadian multilateralism and we should not be part of it, and to suggest that a ‘seat at the table’ would give us some influence is total nonsense. Canada should build up its own armed forces to be used for constructive purposes, rather than acting as a stamp of approval for unilateral U.S. militarism.

ok what have you been reading buddy, you were just like me when i did not agree with BMD i read all this bull **** on how BMD is bad and how it will eventually destroy the world. I beleive we should be on board with this because why (if) this does lead to the weaponisation of space why only let the Americans have a bite out of this and be the only ones aloud to have weapons up their? Eventually know matter what even if it takes a few more hundred years we are going to be colonising space because earth will no longer be usable and when that happans we need to defend are space so no matter what happans what i'm trying to say is we are screwed! if we don't join missile defense were screwed by the americans and eventually were going to be expanding into space.

RE: why steven harper wil

Since Smitty the Teenaged Werewolf's post is even less intelliglible than most of his missives, I'll just ignore it.

I'd like to respond to Ithink not though. I would hope that we begin recruiting people and building up a weapons capability to support UN missions and enforce our sovereignty as soon as possible. Every political party, with or without elected members, in Canada has plans for that.

The question then becomes which direction that military build-up will take. My hope, and what I will support with my vote, is that it will not include any contribution to the military machines of nations that use their militaries for reasons of imperialism.

You should try writing bad Hollywood SF, Smitty. Either that or grow up and learn about real politics.

I don't actully have a gay partner. Mrs. Rev is pretty damned happy sometimes though. Think about that when you are all alone in your room practicing your "puligomy".

Yes Rev, plans are great, more action and less talk goes a long way.

Well apparently you are a 16 year old ( although I don't believe that, not to worry about that tho :p ) and you chose to come here and express your opinions. So you cannot really get that upset about other people's opinions can you? Your comments about age are so silly they make you look foolish. I read alot of things here I do not like or agree with, its called life. Take what you want and leave the rest.

First of all I'd like to toss a big  at Smitty. he is nothing more than an childish troll and will be ignored from here on in.

Yes Rev, plans are great, more action and less talk goes a long way.

There has been some action from the Liberals, who I don't support. Funding has increased and people have begun to be hired though. Did you think this was al going to be immediate?

Like in Serbia?

Not really. Serbia had very little to offer in the way of natural resources. There was certainly an element of imperialism in that action, though it was concerned more with geo-political maneuverings than direct control of natural resources.
