Why Socialism will never work...

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on this plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
I think this explains it quite nicely.

Why socialism always fails

Given the recent resurgence of socialism, especially as it is now being embraced by young Americans, I thought it might be a good time to re-visit my 1995 essay to review why socialism: a) failed in the 20th century, b) is failing in the 21st century (e.g. Venezuela, see photo above), and c) will always fail. And that’s because it’s a flawed system based on completely faulty principles that aren’t consistent with human behavior and can’t nurture the human spirit.

Why socialism always fails - AEI

Often it's because they have to kill off all the smart people first to get into power.

Unionized ( if you can't do - TEACH!) teachers are a big part of the problem.

Capitalism is all about giving poor people the chance to get rich.

When you pervert it and it becomes about giving rich people the chance to gt richer it will also fail.

No it isn't. It's about the owners of capital being entitled to the profits of that capital. You can read Adam Smith cover to cover and you will never once find a statement that the purpose of capitalism is to give the poor a chance to become rich.

When you pervert it and it becomes about giving rich people the chance to gt richer it will also fail.
Oddly, Smith did address that, though people who quote The Wealth of Nations without having read it don't seem to understand that.

Smith freely recognize the abuses of capitalism and stated that government regulation was the best, and only, way to deal with the abuses.

Capitalism creates enclaves of the ultra rich.

Socialism creates ghettos of the ultra poor.

We need something in-between...Capocialism...or somethin like that.

Or we can make our currency worthless and print billions and be a communist country. Wait a minute. Thats what we already are doing. :)

As long as its not me paying for it, im in. Let the Chinese pay for our communism :)

I wonder how long it will take them to realize our money is worthless?

If there no such thing as people looking after the needs of others then every estate should just pay down the national debt rather than be passed on to non earners. Time for everyone to earn their income and not have it given to them.

You don’t get it at all do you. All you are creating is a boom in the hidden money account businesses.
And you’re spending billions trying to enforce it. You probably would lose money in the bureaucratic process.

You Communist will never get it. You can’t regulate yourself into prosperity. Regulations cost alot of money to constantly police.

And people will always find a loophole

All of those estates paid, and continue to pay taxes to float many boats.

Being jealous of someone that inherits assets isn't the answer

Socialism must be a pretty good economic system, because whenever it raises it head, the Capitalists enter the scene and begin to cause dissention and civil unrest within any country which chooses socialism. Military threats are made by the Capitalists which force the socialist country to invest heavily into the military rather than to feed its people.

I don't think that I can recall any socialist country where the Capitalists did not use a "Socialist Army" of recruits to attack the competing system of Socialism. The Capitalists have a "Socialist Army" because the U.S. military is given all the necessities of life from cradle to grave.

I am convinced that the Socialist System must be a rather good system because it is viewed as such a threat by the Capitalists.

I often wonder that if the Socialist System is such a poor system, why don't the Capitalists simply let the socialist country just fail on its own rather than to assist or hurry it along?
