Why leaving Canada makes sense for Alberta, and U.S. would likely welcome a new state

One of them was hanged. The other ended up as an act in a "Wild West Show".
Yep, 130 years ago. Has Ottawa Hung anyone from the Bloc Quebecois so far? I'm not seeing you freaking out about them here though (Or maybe I've missed that. I miss years at a time here on this Forum to be honest). Who you going to hang first (to set an example for those uppity Westerners)? Blanchet or Legault? Will the other one have to join a "Wild East Show"?

The Bloc will never bring about separation. They are a toothless YAP! YAP! YAP! dog that can only bark.

Don't waste the rope.

'Don't cut the rope, he isn't worth it.' is how the saying originally went. See what happens when something good is sent east??

So that's why you're so freaked out about Western Alienation then? I think I'm beginning to understand. The selectively biased patriotism bit was coming across as pretty illogical when looking to your neighbours to the east. The whole "I spit on you and your wares" thing followed by threats of violence and invasion was also pretty over the top.

Maintaining the lopsided status quo then, would you be OK with Western Canada being allowed to remain successful as long as it stayed inside Canada and continued to pay Quebec's way for the rest of Canada then? Was that the issue since you are against Alberta Beef and Canadian Oil and I'm assuming All things Saskatchewan like the Uranium powering about 70% of Ontario's electrical generation and so on and so forth?

If Quebec can hold one then so can AB, only 'we' will make it a national vote rather than AB residents only, we would them have to join the Mexican Cartel as the CIA could not work with us directly without 'invaded' being mentioned sometime by somebody. Maybe throw in a bit for the north wanting to hook up with a southern Province in exchange for economic incentives along with a workforce brought in from outside in exchange for citizenship for their children. X-soldiers preferred as they are the ones with the smallest blinders on.

I grew up in Quebec and I know that place far better than you do. Separation is a non-issue, there. Federalists took most of the seats. The Bloc knocked out the NDP who had previously knocked out the Bloc. Decades ago, that Bloc vote was the Creditiste vote.

None of this is analogous to Western separatism.

Uranium powers 50% of Ontario. Hydro does the rest.

I Guess that we should be buying Uranium and natural gas from a friendlier source than the blackmailers in Saskatchwan and Alberta.

Damned good thing that we don't use much of your oil, considering what you are.

BC would have no choice but leave too.

As long as we here in the Interior and those in the North can leave the Left Coast to rot on its own it will be all good, pete. Nothing worthwhile keeping down there anyway. Of course any like minded folks would be free to leave and join us.

What are you afraid of making you so rabid? Who's blackmailing whom? And being the selective patriot that you are, what is it you consider that I (or is it we?) am in the whole:
considering what you are.
??? Sorry I overestimated the %'age of Nuclear Power generation in Ontario.

If it makes you feel any better, we also have some of that dirty Hydro out here with the dams destroying the ecosystems behind them creating methane & other nastiness from the flooded lands potentially creating more greenhouse gases than power generation from fossil fuels....but hopefully we can grow past that with clean natural gas and carbon capture & storage tech.
