Why leaving Canada makes sense for Alberta, and U.S. would likely welcome a new state

Yawn.. big talker for a guy who doesn't like guns..

It's not that I don't like firearms (guns are something else, junior). I just don't believe that many of the general public need them or are smart enough to have them. North America is loaded to the shorelines with well armed but realy stupid people. Ask any police chief.

Yeah, I have to agree...

Guns are used for Hunting, Protection "in the home" and Target Practice. Outside that, no need for a gun.

Yes, I have several firearms and keep them under lock and key, not even in my home.

However, when I drove truck in the US, in Chicago I had a bunch of guys jump on my truck while moving, open the doors and try to smash my window.. the day after that, I always carried a 9 mil. in the truck.

There is no way you can fight 6 guys, so best just shoot first, deal with the BS later... and thank God you're still alive.

The Maritimes except PEI should break away form the Canadian frontiers, they have been nothing but an incumbrance since the beginning, the cod and ship building is recovering. There will be thousands of jobs in the firewood and bootleg coal grass roots industries this winter. A team of pit ponies and an axe and your all set.

I was in the Forces when I was younger. Did plenty of shooting, including team competitions. I am also the grandson of a farmer and all of the children, grandchildren on were taught SOME firearm skills and rudamentary hunting craft.

What REALLY, REALLY bugs me are the millions of morons who sleep with loaded Glocks under their pillows, who have a bedroom, bathroom, family room and garage gun, that buy lightweight and short barrelled automatics "to hunt deer". These people are collectively dangerous. A few of them are totally bonkers. The funniest one that I've seen on several forums is :" I have a pistol because I take it bear hunting." Brother, you had better be Buffalo Bill to stop a pissed off bear with a pistol. El Stupido. Darwin will take care of you.

7mm Remington Magnum will do the job. :(

However, if a bear was charging you, would you prefer to have a 9mm hand gun or nothing.. ;)

Oh fer Chrissake, the rest of Canada has bugger all to do with the downturn in the economy and anyone who talks about separation is just as idiotic as the whiners in Quebec who keep threatening to leave.

Suck it up, things will improve and the political climate is ever changing.

I've shot Browning 9mms in the Forces years ago. You'd have to be so close to the bear to get that perfect shot off that would penetrate a bear's thick skull that it's a one chance deal. It's so much easier to do it on television. Those guys NEVER miss at long distances with barrels three inches long and targets moving at 20 kph.
