The Lunar Month includes the time the earth has moved to get the to the same phase again not just one revolution around the earth.

However you may calculate it, we see the new crescent after 29 or 30 days. Not more or less: not less than 29 days, and not more than 30 days.

Because you've got a really old book that says so.

It may be old book, but it will teach you and correct your erroneous knowledge.
And even if it is old, the interpretation is new and recent, and it is also an inspiration and revelation.

it's all to do with perspective, isn't it? from our earthbound perspective (naked eye) it doesn't appear to revolve; but from any other perspective, anywhere but the Earth, like from another planet, the Sun or even the Moon itself, it does.

As I told them, and Dexter himself in his answer said, if you are outside the two objects: then of course you will see all sides of both objects .. logical.

It's not necessarily the size of a body which determines whether or not it has an atmosphere.

Titan, Saturn's largest Moon and the second-largest of the 181 known moons in the Solar System after Ganymede (our Moon is the 5th largest), is actually slightly larger than Mercury yet it has a thick, dense atmosphere. That's because it's so cold on Titan that the molecules in its atmosphere can't move fast enough to escape off into space. On Mercury, where temperatures can reach 800F during the day, no molecules are able to move slowly enough in order to form an atmosphere.

Blackleaf, are you sure that blurry yellow circle is Titan? Kinda looks like the ghost of a Roundhead general.

Maybe that's why you don't get this. Using the Quran as a science text, as you do later in that post, is foolish beyond description, on par with the Christian fundamentalists who do the same with the Bible. Which by the way gives quite a different story of the moon's origin, an instantaneous creation by divine decree.

Your comment on my example: that you will see both sides of the two balls: this is if you are outside the two balls, so of course you will see all the sides as the two balls move, and it is not any proof that the Moon spins around its axis. If it spins around its axis: why don't we on earth see the other invisible side of the moon?

So they observe some observations like that the other side of the moon is invisible to us on earth, but they give explanations that are not logical; the logical thing is to say: we don't see the other side of the moon, because it always keeps the same face towards the earth, or else we can see the other side.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When the earth will stop its axial rotation in the future, it will be like Venus now, then later on it will be like Mercury.

That is because Mercury stopped its axial rotation or spinning a long time ago, so now its core has become cold, and thickly dense as it contracted, and it lost its gravity, lost its moon, then it lost its atmosphere.

While Venus has stopped its spinning more recently ( I think around the fifties of the last century), so its gravity also weakened and it lost its moon, then its atmosphere mixed up into a thick smoke.
Then afterwards Venus is going to lose its atmosphere as its gravity becomes weaker and weaker as its loses more of its internal heat.

most celestial bodies are curve balls

the moon is a knuckle ball

leave it to baseball to solve this crisis!

Yep, it's hopeless. This is either eanassir come back to haunt us, or just another ignoramus who reads only the same two books he did, the Quran and Al-Hilly's scientifically illiterate interpretation of it.

I think their calculations about Saturn and Jupiter and their moons need revision and correction.
Specially they call them the 'gaseous giant planets' while they are like the rest of the planets, but because of their larger masses, they have larger and extensive atmosphere, which brought about the miscalculations (a matter of density.)

No. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are gas planets. There are no solid surfaces on those places. They're just balls of gas, like tiny stars. If you parachuted into those planets hoping to hit the ground, you would never find firm landing.

Like the Sun, Jupiter (whose Great Red Spot is a storm which has been raging for centuries and which is around three times larger than Earth, although scientists reported last year that it's now at its smallest size ever recorded) is composed predominantly of hydrogen and helium (around 90% hydrogen and nearly 10% helium, but with a few traces of other gases), the two most common and simplest elements in the universe.

Saturn, the second-largest planet, is made up of 94% hydrogen, 6% helium and small amounts of methane and ammonia.

Uranus, the third-largest planet, is composed of various ices, like water, ammonia and methane.

The furthest planet from the Sun, and the Solar System's fourth-largest planet, Neptune, is made of very cold gases of hydrogen, helium, and methane. It has wispy white clouds, which scientists think are made of methane crystals (unlike clouds on Earth, which are made of crystals of hydrogen oxide - water).

No, it's Titan, in true colour.

Damn climate change. Some planet never paid its carbon credits.
