Why do people have to believe in God?....

First, you lead em into God's destruction by offering Christianity then by saying "is good enough" forces em into hypocriscy, as how can you have faith in something they know nothing about?

First thing is to tell the TRUTH, if you don't know anything about it just say so, for heavens sake don't lie and hold false faith.

I haven't led abitz anywhere. He's posed the questions, I've given my view and past experiences. There are, plain and simple, a host of denominations in Christianity which all have different expectations from their congregants in terms of the rigidity of their faith and their spiritual journey.

I'm not entirely sure whether I should be searching for a faith that is "correct" (correct to me; beliefs that I will come to firmly believe) or searching for a faith according to my beliefs RIGHT NOW.

Yes, I understand karrie but if nobody is listening to his cry's at the moment why impose belief into his life that doesn't exist at this time in his life?

On the other hand, if you are advertising Christianity I guess it wouldn't matter anyway as Jesus is long dead and couldn't do anything for him anyway...

God however, bussiness is booming, you have to take a number with him directly though.

Just don't force any faith, it doesn't work that way.

NOW your talking sense! God will call you when he is good and ready.. Play it safe for now and admit you are faithless for the time being instead of trying to impose false faith you don't know what you are getting into.

Hint: God might be testing you to tell the truth about your faithlessness and might come around one sunny day and reward you into his world for your honesty. ;-)

Ok thanks a lot. I have heard what you have said a lot. I'm not entirely sure about that, but I have heard it enough now that it is what I'm going to do.

The way you feel right now is the only thing you can go by. Trying to cement beliefs in place, identify what you WILL come to believe in, rather than exploring and letting it happen naturally, would be futile I think.

You are what you believe? Well in God's case expect a major brick wall on the nose on that idea.

Religion is a lot like shoes. If they don't fit right, they cause discomfort. Pick a custom fit for you and don't worry about anyone else's ideals.

Boy are you misleading... Your religion is by the grace of God that he accepts you. It is NOT A CHOICE you can just pick and choose. You have to be personally invited by God himself, if not you will suffer hypocrisy!

We have a playpen all set up for you on the other thread. Maybe you should avoid the logical section....

I agree and I don't. It depends on what's causing the discomfort. For some people, being told they shouldn't be self indulgent pricks causes major discomfort, but, I wouldn't say they should necessarily leave their church because of it.

That's the cool thing about freedom to make choices. With all the competition among starving churches, one has room for questions of Faith.

Self indulgent pricks have their own little niches....

Just because your god likes to play ping pong with your mind, doesn't mean that is the only way god relates to people. Everybody is different and have different needs, Obviously god thinks you need to have your mind batted about at this time (for reasons only known to your god). My god treats me gently and with respect.

Yeah, because while your still feeding on nourishment of breast milk, God is busy training us on how to be men no matter what his stress test may be.

At 64, I have been long weened from mother's milk. There was a time when I thought god was treating me rather roughly. Then I realized that it was me all along. I create my own reality and I am my own god. So if you think life (god) is rough on you, think again. Look in the mirror and you will see who is actually treating you like a ping pong ball.

Major difference between looking in the mirror and standing before God. If it were that easy I would be my own god as well.

If Jesus was 100% human he would have not been " A Stunning Person" and he most
certainly would not be someone we coud aspire to be? Rather, he would have been
pathetic lunatic that claimed to be " The SON OF GOD, the savior of mankind' The way the truth and the life. Without his deity (witch I believe with all my heart) it seems probable the he was everything he said he was
