Cuz he's chicken ****?

Why didn’t Trudeau want to link the Fort Mac fire to climate change?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau obviously anticipated being asked at his news conference today about the connection between climate change and the forest fire that had already wreaked such devastation on Fort McMurray, Alta., and hadn’t yet burned out or been stopped.

And so, in his usual fashion, Trudeau responded adroitly to the most awkward possible question of the hour, doing his best, which is pretty good, to deflect discussion in the National Press Theatre away from global warming and back to what’s being done to help a community that sure needs it.

Still, he didn’t dispute the uncomfortable fact that climate experts have long seen more frequent, more intense fires in the boreal forest as an unavoidable result of global warming. “It’s well known that one of the consequences of climate change will be a greater prevalence of extreme weather events around the planet,” he said.

Trudeau argues against linking one disaster and climate change

Of course.

It's a combination of factors which includes El Nino for this year, climate change, dry trees, crazy wind and obviously the guy that started it.

Having worked in the northern Saskatchewan for the last 7 years id have to say there hasnt been a difference in the weather patterns over the years and its been pretty much the same. Forest fires are common in that area, look at the jackpines and their geography. They have always been there even when the world was "cooler". Fire is just the way of life up in the north. Its dry because the area is a continental climate!!!!

It's not so simple.

Climate change is a factor.

It may not be a significantly contributing factor at this point in time, but it is a factor.

B. S. forest fires are a part of life . Some pine need fire to release their seed , the provincial flower of Yukon is Fireweed .Why is that ?

Yes, they are a part of life and so is climate change.

Don't be daft.

Compared to local norms, if the west coast is heating up then that has happened in the past and it could be marking a long term change that also sees the east part get wetter and colder so the 'global average' is not changed much while some places get 10deg hotter and other get 15deg colder it would be claimed that the change was 5deg.

Fire is a part of forest life, having fires arrive a few months early is what a warmer, drier climate change for Alberta is.

I expect my climate to be 0.2 degrees higher than normal. But there is nothing normal or climate related if a fire were to tear through my town. I reckon it is the same in other towns, too.

Actually, and you did not hear it from me, Ottawa will be enacting a special surtax to pay for the fires and provincial expenses related thereto. It will be part of next year's Alberta tax returns.

I will want my tax increase relaxed if I find myself suffering from weather .4 degrees above normal. Double the warming, half the tax burden,IMO.

The Sally Ann also accepts clothes and other items that would have been left behind and that is better than money for the ones in need of such things.

Would you like that deposited as hot lead??
