Its a shame that a few kids that had nothing to do with this were the ultimate losers. Likely their parents didn't know anything about the unpaid bills. That 80 k is tax free, so do the math. Seems top heavy to me to have so many government officials.
But don't let Indian affairs get off scott free on this. They gave them the contributions and grants for infrastructure support. Didn't they bother to check the financial statements? Didn't they bother to make it a contribution requirement, that essential services were covered? No, it took a lot of f'ck ups and ****y policies to make this happen.
Couple of kids are dead because no one gave a ****. Oh well, unfortunately, such is life.
And one final note, I'll bet those firefighters, justification aside, felt pretty bad about the outcome. (And I'm not suggesting for one second that its their fault.)
