Why are tea baggers white?

Just a guess. I'm kinda brown cuz of genetics.

I doubt this is an eye-opening situation as there are far more people of Caucasian ethnicity than those of African-American.
While the issues are divided for many as well, the health care issue is one which skews towards ALL ethnicities and more joiners have arrived at the Tea Parties with their own interests not being served - it depends upon what the groups want from their government..... having little to do with white vs. black.
I think equality for the people of the nation is the focus regardless of what the press flaunt for attention.

Well, imagine that. Teabaggers demographics being representative of the country's demographics. I'd say the same about the demographics of people with myopia, left handers, high IQs, etc., too.

What is this comment if it isn't nitpicking?
That headline is misleading, Curiosity. The numbers reported by Gallop does not support the contention that teabaggers are fairly mainstream.
Thus 65% teabaggers are prolife, compared to 46 % of US population. 87% are opposed to health care reform, compared to 50% of the population.
There are only 6% blacks (the poll I remember seeing gave 4% blacks) compared to 11% nationally. So Tea Party has only half as many blacks as the country does, it is predominantly white movement.
70% are conservative as opposed to 40% Americans. So in what way are the teabaggers mainstream? I cannot think of any. The headline is very misleading. The stereotype of Tea Party as a predominantly white male movement, the conservative Republican base, is indeed true.

Well one can hardly expect the press to report things accurately can we? Especially the headlines which reek of attention grabbing devices anyway and often have no connection to the article once one reads it....
I only used it to point out the huge discrepancy between racial groups within the U.S. and how people can compare even in percentages the membership of a highly mobile and somewhat disorganized and very young movement of various ideologies
into separation by race.
There are thousands of bi-racial people now living in the U.S. and I have no idea what the press calls them....

Curiosity- As you no doubt realize, statistics are very suspect at the best of times and unless done by the same people using the same set of criteria on the same day in the same locale, they are just downright unrealiable when using them for comparison purposes. I've often engaged in telephone polls, and they are often so phony they are sickening. Many times when I've been give the choices of a b c or d, I've had to respond accordingly when the correct answer was "none of the above". Sometimes the polls go on for like 20 minutes and toward the end I just say a letter to get the thing over with. Quite often upon reflection the next day I can't understand why I said what I did, as my opinion has completely changed. Some time two separate polls will cover the same subject but the questions are asked slightly differently. So for the most part percentages and statistics are a crock of B.S. :lol::lol::lol:

When I hear/read a "breaking story" no matter what the news source is I count to three days to see how it changes over the few days' space of time when the real event is charted properly....or the numbers are counted accurately.
Must be a lot of pressure trying to be "first" all the time - wouldn't want to be in the nooz biz.....

Took a bit of time out to respond to your last post about stats and figures and reportage in general. My first bit of education from my father about the "events of the day" - was: "Let's take some time on this"..... and after a few days we would discuss it again....it never seemed to have the same impact, import, or even fear attached as the first clarion knee-jerk.
We can only rely on our initial reaction, give it some play time in our heads, try to avoid getting stomach ache, and in a few days the real assessment does surface whether in the original source outlet or in our own common sense.
All of this is done up close an personal now on our little window to the world...the internet.
I always think of nooz in those light bulb marquee signs on busy downtown streets clamouring and shouting for attention while we plod to work or home after a gruelling day..... our heads are hardly in a great place of intelligent "reception"....
