It's a tax disguised as fee for service. Small price to pay for freedom. We could live in Bermuda or the USA.

Really?
Yeah... this tax is for Canadian freedom! The more they make you Canucks pay exuberant fees, the freer you are!
Lovely...simply lovely.
It costs more for a driver's license. So, not a big deal.
could it be because of the cost of terrorism?A passport from Canada costs $85 or more from the US or Bermuda, for a document that is only good for 5 years. This cost is way out of line, compared to other countries.
Can anyone explain just WHY the fees are so high?
More for a Drivers Licence? Last renewal was $50 for the licence and $10 for the air endorsement - but that was four years ago....
Okay.... I just wanted to know how much extra Oompf I was gonna have to put into the Grrrr next year....Yes but to get it initially is far more expensive. Tests etc.
I never went for one though. I just got a pass port as its more useful to me.
A five-year renewal for a driver's licence varies among provinces. In Albertastan, $84.45
You guys really are free!

I was heading to Texas for a business trip. I found out that since I had misplaced my citizenship card and had a UK passport I would have to get an entry visa and may have issues at customs.
