(Names changed to protect the participants)
MR Smith was driving in the centre of a 3 lane highway, his exit to get home was coming up via the left lane. MR. Write was driving beside Smith. Mr. Smith first slowed to be able to get in behind Write, but Write slowed too, to prevent Smith from getting over. Smith then sped up, and tried to pass Write, so as to gain the left lane in time for his exit. But Write sped up, once again blocking Smith from gaining the left lane and ultimately, his way home. Again Smith slowed. Same result. With the exit rapidly approaching, Smith had had enough, and yanked on the wheel, cutting off Write, and gained the left lane. Write almost went off the road, clearly, he could have been killed, but managed to steer out of his skid. Write, now determined to bring a degree of justice against Smith for this violent act, followed Smith all the way to Smith`s home. Smith went into his home. Write, having a collection of weapons in his vehicle, started firing into Smith`s home. After, all, Smith tried to kill him. Bullets riddled Smith`s home, killing Mr. Smith, his wife, children, and the children`s grand parents whom also lived in the home. The bullets, striking a gas line, set the home on fire, which caught fire to the homes on each side, some of Smith`s neighbors were also killed in the ensuing fire, and some were killed by ricocheting bullets. All in all, more than a dozen homes were destroyed, with over 20 people killed. Despite the carnage, Write was exonerated, Write had a right to defend himself. After all, if Write had not replied in this manner, the next time Write tried to block someone`s right to go about their business, they might just try the same thing that Smith did.
I`m sure many of you know who these participants were. And no doubt, many will say, that that is a over simplified uninformed account, that I have to go back to a point when Smith and Write were just learning to drive. Perhaps.
