OTTAWA—Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, they ain’t, but Liberal MP Justin Trudeau, 40, and Conservative Senator Patrick Brazeau, 37, will soon step into the boxing ring to raise money for cancer research in Ottawa.

CTV Ottawa reporter Terry Marcotte’s story on the two boxing Parliamentarians will air on tonight’s supper hour news show.

Mr. Marcotte, who boxed a few years back against Walter Robinson in a similar fundraiser, said the two political players have been training since November, and that it will be a real three-round regular fight.

The charity cancer fundraiser is organized by the Final Round Boxing Club in Ottawa. The boxing match will take place on March 31 at the Hampton Inn Convention Centre. Tickets are $250, which includes a four-course meal.

Brazeau has already vowed to "float like an Algonquin, sting like a Cree."

Online casino Bodog.ca puts Brazeau -500 odds and Trudeau at +300.

It was a good fight and it robbed the Conservatives of a good attack ad of Trudeau wearing the Conservative jersey and the big winner is the people that are searching for a cure for cancer

Justin damn near had him out in the second round, then again beginning of the 3rd with the first count and then Justin just pounded him.

Justin clearly in better condition for that match. Brazeau was sucking fumes at the end of round 1.

Hats off to both. Took a lot of guts to put themselves out like that.

I ain't watching. I love martial arts as art forms, fitness and self defense. But watching people pound each other in the ring out of choice turns me off.

Oh, this is an old thread. Fight's over. Never mind.

Justin Trudeau ain't no Alli but he was obviously in better shape than his opponent though Brazeau was three years younger. I think Brazeau wore himself out in the first round. After that Trudeau's reach advantage allowed him to pound Brazeau all over the ring.
