which pizza? A sicilian thin crust with a nice tangy sauce, some grilled chicken, veggies, olives, and a light sprinkling of asiago cheese... nothing unhealthy about it.

OK that one, but the ones from these joints aren't. There's an exception to every rule.

Most pizza joints around here have options for thin crust, topping choices, and have no qualms about giving you half cheese if you ask for it. I find it's usually the person ordering that's the issue, not the pizza joint. lol.

I really can't understand anyone liking the frickin' things enough to have one more than once a month. Do they come with a head cheese topping?

we have young kids, so, pizza's a fairly common meal. Usually made at home, on pita bread, with light cheese, tons of veggies. When we really want to treat ourselves though we go out to Tony's for sicilian pizza.

That's OK talloola, we all have different tastes- I love the stuff but by the same token I'm not fussy about beef tongue, but maybe you love it.

I've sworn off whole wheat pasta. It tastes crappy and takes three times as long to cook as normal pasta.

As far as beef tongue is concerned, as long as it is cooked properly, it is mighty fine.

gag, no I'm not either, I'm not experimental with my food lol, pretty canadian, city girl type, right
down the middle with food. But I do eat liver, I use to buy calves liver, can't find it any more, but I
cook beef liver, just long enought to lose rawness in the middle, with some onions, any longer, and it
begins to toughen up, just the right time and it is so so tender and tasty.

the head cheese tasted very salty and very greasy, it was a brand new loaf he opened just to give me a
sample, I took a bite and handed him back the rest, (wrapped in napkin of course), he just smiled a very
knowing smile and said "It's not for everybody", I nodded in agreement, thanked him very much and was on
my way.

try rice pasta, I have cooked it a few times, and it takes longer too, and it is a little different,
but when you finally taste it, it tastes the same as the regular pasta, slightly different texture.
Very good for you.

gag, no I'm not either, I'm not experimental with my food lol,.

I like experimenting with food but my wife doesn't. She took me out for Father's Day to a restaurant- said it was my choice where to go. I suggested East Indian food, but she said any place but, so we ended up going to Earl's where I had Halibut and chips. Earls is good but they want an arm and a leg. We took 2 grand daughters and thought a child's portion would be good for the nine year old, but no such thing.:x:x
I think the day is coming soon where these restaurants are going to have to smarten up. In Vernon here, I get the feeling people are going out more for breakfast and lunch now solely because the menu prices for dinner are just too steep. I'd say the majority of the restaurant here now open from 6 AM till 3 PM- most of the ones right down town for sure. I'm a person who is solely interested in the quality of the grub and how fast she can get it to the table- not all the fancy decor and china etc. Not too many calories in atmosphere I guess and anyway I can go outside for that.:lol:

I had halibut and chips on fathers day too, at 'The Shady Rest' in qualicum, a great little restaurant right on
the ocean, the best halibut and chips, always so fresh and perfectly cooked.
I've only had east indian food once, and it was in the commercial drive area of vancouver. It was OK, but
certainly not the kind of food I would want every day.
We always make sure we eat early at restaurants, just to make sure we avoid those 'expensive' dinner hour
prices, only do that on very special occasions, not interested in all the hoopla, just well prepared good
food.

So the old Shady is still going strong ! We've eaten there many times over the years. Good grub, good price, not too fancy.

I would guess that it hasn't changed one bit since you were last there. They are open 7 days a week, and
always have a very good lunch menu.

I laughed when I told my daughter the name, long ago, she thought I was talking about an old age home.

That's a good one. Sounds like it hasn't changed an iota. I believe at one time it was owned by a fellow named Tom Kincade, apparently a fairly well known pioneer in the area.

Pizza is OK once a month, it is NOT a healthy food.
That depends upon the pizza. You can get/build everything from a cheese pizza to a completely veggie one or a completely meat one. They can supply some of almost all the food groups.
Personally I like a thin, crispy crust (grains) with salsa sauce (veggie), feta cheese mixed with cheddar (dairy), ground moose (meat), red & green peppers (veggies), onions (veggies), bacon or ham (meat), and sprinkled with ground chilies. Add an orange, apple, or bowl of strawberries for dessert and it's a complete meal. What's the unhealthy part?

I'm not one of these nuts when it comes to food and basically believe in eating a little of ALL foods, but the nutcases turn up their noses at feta cheese, cheddar cheese, any and all meat and God forbid head cheese.

Fast food is a major cause of death in this country that's why they serve these type of foods at nursing homes
