No one really needs a special day to tell someone how much they love them. But then again if I were to get dressed up and take my wife out to dinner, buy her flowers, go see a live performance and so on, it wouldn't be very special at all would it? Even the best steak possible gets boring if you have it every day.

This is why it's a special day. You don't have to spend a cent on it either. It's the expression not the value of the expression that matters.

One year we had to spent a few days apart and we hate to be a part even for over night let alone days. It was Valentines day and when I got to the hotel and opened my bag I found all these little notes in the shape of hearts that said things like "I love you" and "here is a kiss" and "here is a hug". She blows my mind that way.

It's all about taking the time to focus on each other for a day. There are times when you can do that all throughout the year, but having a day for it only clears the decks so that you have an excuse not to sit eating dinner in front of the tube, have a couple drinks and go to bed so you can get up and earn your keep the next day.

Being single, Valentine's Day doesn't matter much to me either way. I suppose it would mean more to me if I had a special woman to share it with.

About the same with me. Besides, I don't see a point of celebrating lovers' day. If you don't have a lover, you have nothing to celebrate. If you do, you can celebrate any day of the year. Go figure... It's just as pointless as the 8th of March in Russia - the Women's Holiday. We all get congratulated because we are women. Stoopid...

I really dislike this occasion. Why is it that the guy alwayz has to ask the girl out? Why can't the hottie at work just confirm she's interested and ask ME out?

If she does, she'll also have to seduce you, marry you, feed you, keep you and that's too much for a woman  We are the weaker sex, you know ;-)

Every day is valentines day. I don't need some little pagan fella to remind me of those i love dearly.
We shorten it to Valentine's Day (or if you are a kid it's Valentimes Day) but it's really Saint Valentine's Day. No pagen's here.

How can you not like Valentine's Day? It's one of those days you either make special or ignore. I make it as special as I can for my grandkids. My husband is not a Valentine kinda guy and he pretty much ignores the day. We've been married for a very long time and I think he has bought chocolates for me twice in all that time on Valentine's Day. It used to hurt my feelings but now I just know that's the way it is and I don't worry about it. If I want chocolate bad enough - I'll get my own.

Put on a sexy outfit and tell the schmuck if you want some of this bring the chocolates.

valentines day is the anniversary of me being diagnosed diabetic. This year will be the 22nd year.
Then let's celebrate that you are a diabetic survivor and that I (and I'm sure many others) believe you will live a long and happy (I did not say glorious) life. Husband had a nephew born with it and he lived into his 50's. He would have lived a lot longer if he had just tried even a little to look after his diet and other things. He did nothing but take his insulin. So - Happy Valentines Day to you! Let the day be a gentle reminder that you need to take care of yourself.
