As hero died protecting teens in Portland, his wedding ring and backpack were stolen, police say

Ricky Best was one of two people hailed as heroes after being stabbed to death last Friday on a Portland light-rail train while trying to calm a man yelling anti-Muslim slurs at two teenage girls.
Portland police now say that as Best lay helpless, someone apparently made off with his wedding ring and backpack. Police posted images of the suspect on YouTube and Twitter late Thursday, along with a plea for the public’s help in locating him.
“The contents of the backpack include personal items important to the Best family,” said a police statement, which described the suspect as a “white male with a blonde hair mullet, wearing a black Jordan Brand baseball cap, a black t-shirt featuring an image of Marilyn Monroe and an American flag, black shorts, and black shoes.”

‘Shut up, slave!’: A spilled Starbucks drink led to a racist tirade and sidewalk fight, police say

A man who was caught on video unleashing a racist tirade and then turning violent outside a Chicago Starbucks has been arrested and charged with battery, police say.
According to police, 23-year-old William Boucher “became irate” after someone spilled a drink on him inside the Starbucks on Tuesday afternoon.
A local television photographer who was in the store at the time captured the incident on his cellphone camera. In the video, a man later identified as Boucher can be heard shouting “you’re disgusting!” and other insults as other customers and employees stand by.
The incident escalated after Boucher left the coffee shop and spit on a 30-year-old male and 34-year-old female, police said.
In additional video footage, Boucher, who is white, can be seen hurling racist insults at two black bystanders. He appears to be wearing a cream-colored suit that still has visible drink stains.
Moments later, Boucher continues yelling toward one of the men, who is walking away: “Get on all fours! Do not walk off on two legs!”
Shortly after that, police said, Boucher punched a 59-year-old male without provocation. The man was taken to a hospital with an eye injury, ABC7 News reported.
Bystanders, including the man who was spit on, detained Boucher near the Starbucks until officers arrived to arrest him, police said.
Boucher has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery, according to Chicago police. He is scheduled to appear in court July 5.

Trump getting elected wasn't enough. You actually have to WAIT until the LEGISLATURE changes the law before you can walk around punching and spitting on black people.

What planet are you living on? Racial profiling is alive and doing well right here in Canada. It is why a disproportionate number of jail cells are filled with indigenous and black people and the number of children taken from their families are also indigenous. Racial profiling is not why there is a disproportionate # of select demographics in the prisons... I'm no expert in the actuarial profession but I'll go out on a limb and guess that the prison populations are a representation of those caught doing some crime or another

If we were to use it along with our understanding of generational DNA trauma and the knowledge that early childhood trauma can cause mental and physical health issues later in life we could use it to identify which individuals might be in need of certain types of help, medication etc.
Currently, it's used by policing authorities because we expect them to use policing in advance of the crime being committed.
Maybe we could use it to prevent the crimes through early intervention in mental health? resolve human disenfranchisement and prevent terrorists from having mentally unhealthy, unstable people to recruit for their stupid ideologies. meh
I don't know. They're the leading cause of terrorist acts in america right now. I'd keep my eyes on 'em.
