Poached eggs on toast is probably my number one favourite comfort food.

For mindless noshing, food I can eat for indefinite lengths of time: a) peas in a pod b) sunflower seeds

White Spot. It has been a comfort food place for all my life. Okay, it's not a food, but they have food, ha ha. White Spot chocolate milkshakes, birdy num nums.

Haggis just reminded me.....when I just want to zone out I like to pick away opening those stubborn pistachio shells - ruins nails but I like the challenge of working to get at the food like you have to do with sunflower seeds too.

Have to limit myself tho ...

Yeah! I like pistachio nuts too. Yum, and my, it makes a mess. For some reason, so do sunflower seeds. Have you noticed? It gets everything kind of gummy, ie keyboards, coffee cups, cameras, remote controls, that sort of thing.

Zoned out describes it perfectly, I almost go into a trance with sunflower seeds, I can't stop eating them until the bag is gone. In order to ensure that I don't overeat the things, I get the little bags.

Here it is friends, from memory, secret until now, and certain to win the hearts of all those to whom you serve.

Dad's Super Secret Waffles

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup any other kind of flour such as blue corn, spelt, rye, white, hempseed, rice flour, etc...
1/2 cup any other flour as above
1 tsp or so baking powder roughly measured using the lid of the tin
1 healthy shake salt
Mix well with a silver fork and cut in up to 1 stick of butter.

3 eggs separated (reserve whites)
1 to 1 and 1/2 cups milk (cow, goat, soy, rice, almond, hemp... take your pick)
Whip these together (silver fork again!) and mix with the flours and butter only till ingredients are moist.

Beat the reserved egg whites till they are not quite stiff.
Fold gently into other ingredients adding in 1 cup or more of chopped nuts, raisins, blueberries, dried cranberries, etc...

Serve with butter and homemade jellies and maple syrup on your finest china with the best flatware.

I prefer sunflower seed over pistachio nuts. The problem is i cant stop eatin them, especially on road trips. Then I end up with a swollen mouth and i cant brush my teeth

Mashed potatoes, and that's it. No gravy, and no special recipe; a bit of garlic is nice sometimes, but I'm happy with just plain old mashed potatoes. :)

My oldest boy is a mashed potatoe lover too.

My homeade cheeseball with rice crackers is another comfort favorite of mine

Or chocolate cheesecake

Braces Goulash

A swackload of ground beef seasoned with garlic, pepper, salt, etc.
Mashed potatoes.
Poutine gravy.

Mix it all together. Enjoy. Perfect for those suffering the braces blues.

Also, chocolate covered almonds / peanuts. I can eat bags of them, non-stop. I'm not allowed to have chocolate covered peanuts / almonds except on special occasions.

No contest: Nanaimo bars. I don't generally have a sweet tooth, and with all other deserts and treats I can take 'em or leave 'em, but I lust, I drool, I pant, for Nanaimo bars. One of my brothers hates them. His recipe for them, or so he says, begins, "First, you crap in a cake pan, add five pounds of sugar..." But for me, and my son, they're sex in a pan.

And for those of you who've never heard of them, they're a heavy, rich, buttery chocolate fudge with a thick layer of yellow custard in them. Man, you can feel your teeth rotting and your waist thickening as you eat them. Great with a cup of strong very dark-roast coffee, which would rate as my number 2 comfort food, followed by a wee dram of an 18-year old Glenmorangie...

:? ,............ :? ,,........... :? :? ,............. :?

Trying to think of a food I DON'T like.

The very best of the best comfort food fer me sssssssgottabee:

P I Z Z A :!: :!:

Not just a freezer, pizza, bought from a "supermarket", but a big combo, special combo with pepperoni, mushrooms, extra cheese, green peppers, black olives, bacon, lotsa sauce, no onions, no hamburg. All this put together as only the Grecian combo maker in our town can put together.

Guaranteed to put a smile on a sad face, a song in a broken heart: You get the picture  Sometimes I do go on.

That's the one.....................pizza, special combo. Did I mention that?

 FugglyUggly.
