This is a flu. A flu that kills. It is on the loose forever. Nobody has immunity. It will mutate. Containing it lowers the probability of mutation. Flu can cause permanent, long term, painfully debilitating complications.

That's the grim reality. I've been wondering how long after we have a handle on this will it be before a worse virus moves in! Is life as we know it drawing to a close?
