If this is true, I'm not surprised that Harper hasn't dropped them yet. This might be a case for good fiscal conservatism.

Looking over that report, they also seem to be a conduit for independent productions as well, which is an indication of journalistic credibility, imo.

Is that what you call sanity? Dumping something that produces greater economic benefit than the tax money used to fund it? All because of an ideological blindness...I'd call that insanity actually.

I would say that CBC is still the best of the bunch when it comes to fairly neutral reporting. I've been listening to their politics war room podcast and I haven't come across anything quite like it. The three big parties are fairly well represented to discuss current issues and they have at it every day. While things can get heated, it's pretty well moderated and civil.

If anything there needs to be more independent media.

I agree, which is why despite being a socialist, I am happy to see that Sun News got off to a successful start and I would like to see an independent CBC.

I do know enough about economics. It's pretty simple math. The tax payer funds are X, and the economic value that X funds is X plus Y. In this case, Y is a positive number. You're the one who thinks we should dump an albatross that produces more economic activity than the tax dollars it receives. Explain the reasoning for reducing economic activity Durry.

The government also funds industries who invest in scientific research and experimental development. One dollar of SRED tax credit produces $1.17 in economic activity. Tax payer money which produces economic benefits. Do you think we should get rid of that too?
