old videos of Brian Lara playing international cricket on youtube

Did you watch the one in which he scored what remains today the highest individual score ever in first class cricket history: an UNBEATEN 501 off just 427 balls for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston on 6th June 1994, in which he hit 308 off boundaries (10 sixes and 62 fours)?

He also scored what remains the highest ever individual score in Test cricket: 400 for the West Indies against England in Antigua in 2004.

He is the only batsman to have ever scored a hundred, a double century, a triple century, a quadruple century and a quintuple century in first class games over the course of a senior career.

In 2003, he also scored 28 runs in just ONE OVER - which is still a world record - off the bowling of South Africa's Robin Peterson (Australia's George Bailey equalled the record in 2013 off the bowling of England's James Anderson).

TV channel Dave's award-winning show Crackanory has returned for its new series.

Broadcast on BBC between 1965 and 1996, Jackanory was a children's TV series in which famous actors read from children's novels or folk tales, usually whilst seated in an armchair. From time to time the scene being read would be illustrated by a specially commissioned still drawing, often by Roald Dahl's illustrator Quentin Blake.

Crackanory is based on Jackanory except that its darkly comic tales are for adults - and there's a bit of strong language.

Crackanory

Series 3

Episode 1

Imagine if Jackanory was set free from its childish shackles. What twisted, funny tales would it unleash upon the world? Each episode of Crackanory contains two 15 minute tales and is a master class in storytelling, combining some of the UK’s best comedy writers and performers.

In this first episode of the new series, Paul Whitehouse's yarn centres on a historial reenactment group. Carrie 'Leia' Fisher narrates a tale about a mysterious hotel.

Gas

Anarchic early Nineties BBC sitcom about two disgusting housemates - Richard "Richie" Richard, played by the late, great Rik Mayall, and Edward "Eddie" Elizabeth Hitler, played by his friend Adrian Edmondson - who share a flat in Hammersmith, west London.

In this episode, Richie and Eddie get an unwelcome visit from the gas man. After beating him up with a cricket bat, they must remove an illegal gas pipe without disturbing their violent next door neighbour, Mr Rottweiler.

I have seen the video highlights and several other vids of the Prince of Trinidad on youtube. As I recall he was not the type of batsman who got many 6's. Instead, he was one who could shoot the gaps and find many boundaries with skillful batting. He would wear out opposing bowlers with his stamina, composure, and great skill.

Sad that so many Yanks fail to see what a creditable sport cric is.

I just watched China > USA in womens soccer 1-0

Abby Wambach retires and the crowd of 30,000+ gave her a huge round of applause.

I have followed her career since her days at Florida where she helped lead the Gators to a championship. She bravely took great headers to score for our Yanks despite being frequently double teamed.

What a player!
