Right now we're watching nothing, but in less than an hour
we'll be watching the new Star Wars "The Force Awakens"
in the only IMAX Theatre in Canada playing it. Just dumb
luck there was a cancellation of two tickets right before I
called, and it's sold out for every other showing into the
new year from what I understand....

Father Ted

Hilarious 90s British sitcom about three Catholic priests - Father Ted, Father Dougal and Father Jack - who have been banished to the fictional Craggy Island off Ireland's west coast as a punishment for various past incidents - Ted for alleged financial impropriety (apparently involving some money 'resting' in his account and a child being deprived a visit to Lourdes so that Ted could go to Las Vegas); Dougal for something only referred to as the "Blackrock Incident" (resulting in many nuns' "lives irreparably damaged"); and foul-mouthed Jack for his alcoholism and womanising, particularly for an incident at a wedding. They live in the island's parochial house with their tea-obsessed housekeeper Mrs Doyle.

In this Christmas special episode, Father Ted manages to avert a major catastrophe when he, Dougal and a group of other priests become lost in the lingerie section of a clothes store! Managing to get them out of the store and avert another scandal in the Catholic Church, Father Ted is awarded a Golden Cleric.

The Young Ones

Series 2

Episode 6

"Summer Holiday"

A 1984 episode of the anarchic British sitcom.

The four students have taken their final exams and are enjoying the summertime, although Vyvyan is bored and begins wanton violence and destruction. Rick suggests the game Botticelli to relieve the boredom, but his playing style proves too tedious and Vyvyan proposes cricket instead.

They then receive their exam results from the postman. Unhappy with their results, Mike then hatches a plan to rob a bank, using water pistols and Vyvyan's car as a getaway vehicle.

Football most of the day. that's what ye orta be watching Blacklump and i'm not talking about that sissified game over thar cross the waters.

No, thanks. "Football" is incredibly tedious. The in-game TV adverts last longer than the actual gameplay. And it's nothing but cissy rugby with too much Elf N' Safety.

Have watched this movie since I was a young boy, Althought my thoughts about things have changed as I got older, I still get emotional about a few things in this movie, It's a movie though. Nothing more.

Blackadder's Christmas Carol (1987)

A Christmas special of one of Britain's greatest sitcoms that is based on the popular Charles Dickens story but which has been turned on its head.

In Victorian England, merchant Ebenezer Blackadder is a kind and generous man. He enjoys Christmas and is generous with friends and freely gives whatever he can to the poor. That night, he is visited by the Spirit of Christmas who shows him some of his less likeable ancestors. When shown the options for the future, he decides that being bad is the best way forward.

For Christmas, my brother got me a DVD boxed set of every Bond film ever released, with the exception of the most recent film, Spectre (although there is space in the boxed set reserved especially for Spectre).

Last night I watched the first-ever Bond film, "Dr. No":

Dr. No (1962)

Bond (Sean Connery) is sent to the British colony of Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of a fellow British agent. The trail leads him to the underground base of Dr. No, who is plotting to disrupt an early American lunar space launch with a radio beam weapon. Bond also, famously, bumps into a scantily-clad Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) collecting seashells on the beach.

Getting caught up on "Homeland". It's a good show but the writer uses one word dialogue way too often. Hate when people do that. It's like they are not intelligent enough to use another word and toss that one in now and then. The shock value ended years ago.
