I always thought Janet was better looking and wittier too. Chrissy is a bit of an air head (being blond) :)

Watching Aviator. Story of Howard Hughes. Leonardo DeCaprio playing the lead role. Embellished I'm sure for the sake of interesting entertainment but still this guy was kinda on the weird side. All that wealth didn't do him much good that's for sure. It certainly didn't make him happy.

Minnesota: Gopher State
watching local news - as usual, most of it is not so good

but here's one that is inspiring:

Bemidji Woman Seeking to Become Most 'Extreme Huntress'

Hunting isn't traditionally considered a women's sport, but one Minnesotan is looking to change that.
For the first time in the history of the state, a 26-year-old Bemidji woman is in the top 20 of an international hunting competition.
There's not much that Nikki Rognstad can't do.
From learning to hunt with a shotgun, rifle, and bow from her father at an early age to raising four kids all under the age of six, life moves pretty fast.
But this past January, time stopped for the 26-year-old mother when she received the devastating news she has multiple sclerosis, a nerve disease affecting communication from your brain to your body.
"I felt really bad for myself and really down and I heard too many stories of people just giving up on life and I decided I have four kids and a husband and a long life ahead of me," Nikki Rognstad said.
Five months later, this mighty mom isn't slowing down.
Competing against thousands of women across the globe, Rognstad now finds herself in the top 20 of the Sixth annual Extreme Huntress competition.
"I want to try new things, do new things, take new risks and entering the Extreme Huntress competition was something out there to put myself out of my comfort zone," Rognstad said.
If voted into the top six, Rognstad will compete against the best women in the world during a televised event that airs this fall. Her favorite is hunting white-tailed deer.
"We want to set a good example and want to get other women out there to want to try this sport because a lot of people don't hunt and they don't understand the reasoning behind it," Robnstad said.
Even research shows men aren't the only ones hunting. A recent national study found about 70 percent more women are hunting today than they were five years ago. According to the DNR, in Minnesota the number of women hunting has increased by nearly 15 percent, while numbers have dropped about 16 percent for men.
"I have a lot of family and friends that have always said my dad never took me hunting and that shouldn't stop you," Rognstad said.
For Rognstad, the target never seemed so small after that trip to the doctor in January, but now full of confidence, she's happy to represent Minnesota, and inspire other girls to aim high towards their goals.
Voting ends for the "Extreme Huntress" top 6 on June 1.

Archery is one of my favorite sports and I wish and her kids the best!

Armada: 12 Days to Save England

Episode 3: Endgame

The English set their fire ships on the Spanish Armada

The final episode of a three-part drama-documentary series telling the story of how England came within a whisker of disaster in summer 1588.

Newly discovered documents reveal a remarkable web of misunderstandings that stopped the Spanish from invading, and show how the English victory forged the reputation of Elizabeth and saw the decline of Spain and the rise of England as global superpowers.

The famous Armada Portrait of 1588 showing a victorious Elizabeth.
In the background view on the left, English fire ships set out in clear, calm weather and, on the right, the Spanish ships are driven onto a rocky coast amid stormy seas by the "Protestant Wind". The Queen's hand rests on a globe, her fingers covering the Americas, indicating England's dominion of the seas and plans for imperialist expansion in the New World

Spectacular new three-part series from the BBC:

Japan: Earth's Enchanted Islands

Japan's landscapes range from snowy mountains to subtropical warmth. They are full of wildlife - and animals' and people's lives often cross as they adapt to these extremes.

Episode 1: Honshu

The central island of Honshu is home to over 100 million people, and its biggest city, Tokyo, is one of the largest urban metropolises on earth. But it has a wild heart - most of Honshu is mountainous. This wilderness is home to an astonishing range of wildlife - black bears, monkeys, exquisite fireflies and even cow demons. But all across this island, from the mountains to the edge of the sea, people and nature are drawn together in the most unexpected ways.

Presented by Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery.

New three-part BBC documentary series to mark the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo...

Napoleon

Episode 1

The first of three documentaries telling the story of Napoleon. With access to a unique archive of Napoleon's personal letters, many of which have never been published before, historian Andrew Roberts journeys through the history and geography of Europe to bring this story vividly to life as he retraces the footsteps of the legendary leader himself. The films shed new light on Napoleon as an extraordinarily gifted military commander, a mesmeric leader whose private life was, contrary to popular belief, littered with disappointments and betrayals.

From lowly Corsican Army officer to first consul of France, this episode charts the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte to leader of the French nation in the late 1790s. It tells of Napoleon's military triumphs in Italy, Eqypt and against anti-revolutionaries on the streets of Paris, his marriage to Josephine Beauharnais and leadership of the military coup of 1799 that swept him into power.

It shares in his ambition as an army officer and his highly progressive modernisation of the country during the early years of his dictatorship, but then also an acute sensitivity in the man, a personality trait that in later years would prove to be an Achilles heel to his power.

The film is presented by British historian Andrew Roberts, and shot on location in St Helena, France and Italy.
