Clutch - "From Beale Street To Oblivion."
They started out as a punk band, got a little older and better and started playing punk metal. They got a little older and better and started playing speed metal.
Then they hit their mid-thirties, and realized everything they played was blues-based - 4/4 time, can't escape it in popular music - and they put out this insanely good loud blues/rock record with heavy punk/metal influences.
The lyrics are wicked smart, full of sly references to other musicians, novelists, and historical events. Lots of puns, language games and hysterically dark humour.
Pangloss
"Electric Blues" is on You Tube I believe.
