I suppose it was better when the string of Liberal YES MEN were in charge of our military. Generals without mettle or integrity.

Why is Hillier a darling to the media and an inspiration to his men? Because his mettle has been tested and he's the real deal unlike the string of failures who preceded him under the rule of Jean Chretien.

Cheers

Just saw this:

Let’s get something straight however. You know the rules as well as I do that a soldier is not allowed to go on a public forum and give dissenting opinions on government policy or military operations and despite you being all pro about the mission, I find you come close to crossing the line when arguing politics with civies on a public forum.

I have freedom of speech just like the rest of my fellow Canadians. I can share my views all I want. There is nothing illegal about posting on a forum, and discussing my views. quote]

RESPONSE: if you were to state those views in relation to the position you held, supported those views based on material you were privy to due to your office, and if that position could be traced to you, then you would be in breach of the Canadian Secrets Act and subject to 5 years. As a soldier you may be detained in Edmonton. No freedom of speech in that institution.

1. It's the Official Secrets Act

2. I'd have to divulge sensitive or otherwise classified information. Which I have never done.

3. The maximum sentance at Canadian Forces Detention Barracks Edmonton is 2 years less a day.
