What Are the Consequences of Obama Failing?

Rent does not necessarily mean money, EagleSmack. Republicans offer them payment of another kind. They convince rent a mob that Obama is converting USA into another USSR, another China, another North Korea, another Zimbabwe.

The yahoos, the rent a mob, which has managed to trash almost each and every Town Hall meeting is convinced that they are doing God’s work, they are racking up brownie points in Heaven for themselves. Did you hear that yahoo in Senator Specter’s meeting, telling Specter that God is going to strike him down for all his sins (or something like that)? No doubt some of them think that they are doing God’s work when they disrupt the Town hall meetings and that is payment enough for them.

Others probably think that they are preventing USA from becoming another North Korea, another Iran (most of them think Obama is a Muslim terrorist), another USSR. And that is payment enough for them.

Payment doesn’t’ necessarily have to be in the form of money. Rent a mob has other incentives to disrupt, trash the Town Hall meetings.

In other words... you are wrong again and can't back up yet another false claim.

I accept your defeat.

I think “rent a mob” is a newly-coined idiomatic expression, EagleSmack—it’s just a term to demonstrate how very disingenuous these droves of partisans are. I think that it’s been proven elsewhere on the board that a good number of the participants at these meetings are dishonest—I have to wonder why would you want to support dishonesty for the purpose of shutting down proper discussion of United States health care reform.

Ahhh...a newly coined phrase. Got you.

Dishonesty and disengenuous because they are speaking out. Protesting just isn't for liberals anymore. Get used to it!

They are not speaking out, EagleSmack. As I said, I don’t think they are intelligent enough to speak out. They are yelling, shouting and drowning everybody out. They are not interested in constructive dialog, they are interested in trashing the Town Hall meeting.

Then why haven’t they spoken out about why they disagree with the health care reform?

They’ve only spoken out with personal attacks against President Obama.

I looked up this Peter Ferrara character. He is a right wing extremist, a wingnut, a regular contributor to American Spectator, a right wing publication....This Peter Ferrara is a character of such a caliber, I wouldn’t’ believe anything he said.

Fortunately, we don't have to believe him, we have lots of other sources to back up what he says. Mind you, I've got twenty bucks that says Joey won't believe any source that backs up Ferrara.

I don’t know about these Democratic politicians, but if I had been a US politician supporting health care reform and my Town Hall meeting had been disrupted by thugs, by yahoos, that would make me even more determined to support health care reform.

As is evident from this forum, I don’t intimidate easily. I would hope that the Democrats would show the same courage, the same gumption, the same fortitude. I have said it before, I don’t care whether they pass health care reform or not, that doesn’t concern me. However, if Democrats want to pass one, it would be nonsense, cowardice of the worst kind to abandon it just because their meetings are disrupted by thugs, by rent a mob. To give in to these thugs, to be intimidated by them would be the surest way to go down to defeat in the next election.

Then you are not listening. They are all speaking out because they do not want the government in charge of their Health Care.

Obama had this to say as a metaphor to government run health care... I will try to find the clip of it.

"Too many people are saying that private companies will not be able to compete with the government. Look at UPS and FedEx. It is the US Post Office that has all the problems."

Oooops!

But he is right... the US Postal Service is run by the government and does have all the problems. NOW they want to run health care!

They are speaking out and that has liberals VERY upset so they are resorting to calling them Nazis and hate mongers. For the first time the liberals and Democrats are on the other end of protests and they do not like it one bit. This is unheard of.

You yell when it is clear that your goverment is not listening to you. People do not yell at you when they are happy with what you are doing. Digging in will only your constituents angry at you and your out of a job. What is constructive criticism, only what you want to hear, anything else is rabble rousing. England lost an empire for far less reasons, oops pretty much similar reasons..
Town Hall meetings are for the people, not the politicians. We decide what is right or wrong.

To quote EagleSmack: "Then you are not listening. They are all speaking out because they do not want the government in charge of their Health Care."

Problem is the goverment is not listening and Obama is their leader.

They are not speaking out, EagleSmack, they attend Town Hall meetings only to yell, shout and drown out anybody who tries to speak.

This is rent a mob, incited by, egged on by insurance companies, Republican Party and the far right, extremist hate groups. They remind me of Hitler’s Brown Shirts.

This is unheard of.

Now here I agree with you, EagleSmack, right wing protests were unheard of, until now. These right wing yahoos governed for 12 years, from 1994 to 2006, with an iron fist. They are used to power, they are used to getting their own way.

Thus when Republicans were in power, there was no increase of minimum wage for 12 years, there was no talk of doing anything to cover the 50 million uninsured, the two huge economic meltdowns ensured that poor would continue getting poorer and rich getting richer. They impeached Clinton for purely political reasons, these right wingnuts were having the time of their life.

This is just what these Brown Shirts wanted. Now for the first time in 12 years, the yahoos, Brown shirts are out of power, and they don’t like it one bit. So they protest, not in the peaceful, democratic way, but by threatening, intimidating, shouting out , drowning out the opposition.

It is a novel experience for these yahoos to be out of power, it has happened first time in 12 years. So these over the top, thug like protests, with their faces contorted with hate are to be expected.

Exactly, ironsides. They don’t just want to make their views known, they want the politicians to obey them. Well, these yahoos, these Brown Shirts are not in power any more, they cannot expect to get their way in each and every issue. They will have to get used to it.

There is a substantial proportion of population that support health care reform (more than oppose it according to the last opinion poll I saw). But what these Brown Shirts want to do is to threaten, intimidate, bully the politicians into obeying these thugs. This is not democracy, this is mob rule, rule by thugs, by bullies.

They have the right to express their views, but they have no right to insist that Democratic politicians obey them. And I hope it does not happen, I hope Democratic politicians show courage and not be intimidated, bullied by these Brown Shirts.

As I said in my pervious posts, these thugs, these extreme wingnuts were in power for 12 years, now they are out of power. They just cannot stand it. They are used to having their way for 12 years now, but my hope would be that democrats would stand up to these bullies and not bow down to them in each and every issue.

Digging in will only your constituents angry at you and your out of a job.

No ironsides. The way to lose power is to bow down in fear to these thugs, these bullies, to do nothing because you feel threatened, intimidated, bullied by them. If as a result of this bullying, threatening tactics the Democrats do nothing and sit on their hands, that will be the sure way to lose power, as happened in 1994.

And if Democrats are going to lose power, it is much better to lose power because they implemented their agenda, rather than lose power because they bowed down to the bullies and did nothing.

The only way to deal with a bully is to stand up to him, not to bow down to him (as everybody knows).

Obama is concerned about the millions of people who need the help, it's so simple.
And they don't get any help right now, they are out in the cold when it comes to
medical help.
I think the republicans have finally found something they can get their teeth into,
and make some waves, as, up until now, they have been 'dead in the water', and
as this four years goes by, they have to have something to yell about, well, they
have found it.
Republicans didn't give a tinkers damn about the down and out part of their
population who didn't have any medical coverage, and they still don't.
Using the lame excuse that they don't want government interference, is just
that, 'a lame excuse', it's government support, not interference.
Sure, insurance companies won't have their way any more, ripping people off.
It was a joke watching all of those people at town hall meetings, hollering and
shouting, that's all hyped up politics, republicans have got those people sucked
in to thinking that the government will do them harm by helping them have
better medical coverage.

The package Strings Obama is flogging will preserve 80 billions of profit for private insurers over the first ten years. There will be only improvements in American Health Care which of course has little to do with the health of Americans.
