Big question is why? A National health system I don't think is the answer. Nobody seems to want to take on the insurance companies which are the real culprits who govern costs.
For the first time, U.S. life expectancy has surpassed 78 years, the government reported Wednesday, although the United States continues to lag behind about 30 other countries in estimated life span.
That is the point, isn’t it ironsides? No doubt USA has made progress, but so have other countries, and USA continues to lag behind.
"Indeed US health care system is the best in the world. For those who can afford to pay for it, that is. And that is the problem. "-
And for those who can't afford to pay for, whose fault is it in at least half the cases? It has a lot to do with where you priortise your health. Health falls within my top 3 priorities, hence I have no problem paying for it. A lot of people see healthcare in the wrong light, like it's something that is magically paid for by someone else, and that just isn't the reality. We the people pay for our health care, and it costs a lot of money, professionals like doctors, nurses, technicians deserve a good salary, but still I'd bet the cost per person for good health care is less than the average smoker and drinker fork out.
I would bet that the life expectancy in the U.S. has virtually nothing to do with the healthcare system, but more to do with the affluence of the society who due to all the conveniences, don't lead a healthy lifestyle.
McDonalds, Burger King etc.

You bet- I would hazard a guess that every time you go in one of those places you reduce your life expectancy by two weeks (and that's just if you are having coffee only).:lol:
I don’t know, JLM, I think McDonald has good coffee. In fact, that is the only item I buy in McDonald’s.
As to affluence, Canada, Australia, Europe are equally affluent, how can they have higher life expectancy?
Years ago I was told that for about 99% of the things we see a doctor for, the outcome would be the same if we didn't.
That would be 100%. Regardless of what happens, you are going to die...soner or later.
I htink the report I was referring to was talking short term......:lol::lol:
Obama failing? Not likely:

At your age it may very well be short term.
Is it because of Obama or would it have happened anyway? Then again it is coming back so who cares why. People are really digging up those old cars rusting away on the front lawns and trading them in as long as there registered vehicles though. Property will look better.
