Russian scientists warn that earth is heading for a new ice age starting in 2014. So much for growing oranges in Saskatchewan

Incredibly, British Summer Time officially starts tomorrow but millions of brassed off Brits pining for warmth will have to endure freezing temperatures and biting winds until May.The misery will continue with daytime temperatures struggling to reach a bracing 5C (41F). The only ray of sunshine, forecasters said, is that it will stay dry. As if the outlook wasn’t bleak enough already, meteorologists believe the shivering start to 2013 has been the coldest in more than 200 years.

More worryingly, the combination of sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow experienced across much of the country recently could be the prelude to a new Ice Age that will begin next year and last for 200 years.

Russian scientist Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov, of the St Petersburg Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory, painted the Doomsday scenario saying the recent inclement weather simply proved we were heading towards a frozen planet.

Cool. :D

Meantime, places in the southern hemisphere are broiling. Australia's summer produced 120+ record breakers within 90 days.

It's about time things cooled down a bit; at least for a while.

Amazing. The biggest scientific study ever undertaken fails to convince him, but get a quote from a Russian scientist (with no link to any paper) and he buys it, hook, line and sinker.

As I've pointed out elsewhere, the Metereological Office in Britain - supposedly the best meteorological office in the world - admitted last year that the world has been getting cooler since 1997.

So I am not too surprised by this story stating that very cold weather is due in 2014. It'll finally spell the end for the great global warming swindle and even those gullible people who believe in it will finally see it for the con that it is.

Global warming stopped 16 years ago, reveals Met Office report quietly released... and here is the chart to prove it

The world stopped getting warmer almost 16 years ago, according to new data released last week.

The figures, which have triggered debate among climate scientists, reveal that from the beginning of 1997 until August 2012, there was no discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.

This means that the ‘plateau’ or ‘pause’ in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. Before that, temperatures had been stable or declining for about 40 years.

Global temperature changes

Research: The new figures mean that the 'pause' in global warming has now lasted for about the same time as the previous period when temperatures rose, 1980 to 1996. This picture shows an iceberg melting in Eastern Greenland

The new data, compiled from more than 3,000 measuring points on land and sea, was issued quietly on the internet, without any media fanfare, and, until today, it has not been reported.

This stands in sharp contrast to the release of the previous figures six months ago, which went only to the end of 2010 – a very warm year.

Ending the data then means it is possible to show a slight warming trend since 1997, but 2011 and the first eight months of 2012 were much cooler, and thus this trend is erased.

Some climate scientists, such as Professor Phil Jones, director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, last week dismissed the significance of the plateau, saying that 15 or 16 years is too short a period from which to draw conclusions.

Others disagreed. Professor Judith Curry, who is the head of the climate science department at America’s prestigious Georgia Tech university, told The Mail on Sunday that it was clear that the computer models used to predict future warming were ‘deeply flawed’.

Your link doesn't support that the world has been getting cooler. A pause in global warming doesn't mean the world is getting cooler. Moreover, what then are we to make of the measurements of ocean heat content? It certainly doesn't appear that the world is getting cooler.

lol That's not proof of anything except of climate fluctuations. Try to convince the oceans that the planet is cooling: Sea surface temperatures reach highest level in 150 years

How do exponentials pause?

There's no evidence that temperature is increasing exponentially...nor monotonically. The question is, why do you think the temperature change of the air above the surface of the planet should never pause given a positive radiative forcing? Maybe you think temperature change is not dynamic. That would be wrong, but I won't expend too much to guess at your misconceptions.

The solar discharge has a very effective feedback system to maintain steady radiant output while the electrical power input varies. In fact, the solar radiant energy is termed a “solar constant,” which is critical to the AGW argument. However, no account is taken of the variable electrical power focused on the Sun but intercepted by the planets. The electrical connections have been traced from the Sun to the Earth’s magnetosphere; from the magnetosphere to the ionosphere; and from the ionosphere into weather systems. No one can claim to be “a climate expert” while ignorant of the electrical nature of the solar system. This common energy source explains the reports of simultaneous warming on other planets. The Sun’s galactic power source is the main driver of climatic variability. Human carbon emissions count for nothing in comparison.Science, Politics and Global Warming | holoscience.com | The Electric Universe
