According to Wikipedia, "woke" is defined as "alert to racial prejudice and discrimination." Beginning in the 2010s, it came to encompass a broader awareness of social inequalities such as racial injustice, sexism, and denial of LGBT rights.

So while I agree with most of what M Ledrew had to say, he seems to think being alert to racial prejudice and discrimination is a bad thing. Not so sure I'm on board with that.

As commendable as the pursuit of equality in our society is, it should not require the complete acceptance of nonsense, but when the alternative is being labelled a racist or a transphobe, it is easy to see why people so often capitulate.

In reality, the nonsense pedlars of the left are not all that different from anti-vaxxers, flat Earthers, or those who believe Donald Trump really won the 2020 American election.

What is truly needed is a reality revolution, a recommitment to rationality, where a genuine dispute over the facts does not lead to tossing the very idea of facts out the window altogether in favour of nonsense.

And it doesn't.

Of course. For the umpty-umpth time, "the political spectrum is not a line, it's a horseshoe, with the extreme ends closer to each other than either is to the middle."

And what's-his-name did not serve that goal with his snarky, pre-emptive "woke" crack.

Well. That was 30-40 micro-aggressions right there. Why are you so fucking violent?

I think the dude is talking about craziness from both directions in the link. Sites examples for both directions.

It is not a stretch to claim the Trudeau Liberals are economically illiterate.

Stumbled across this tonight. Not sure if there’s anything woke, but it’s weird.

Poilievre says biological men don’t belong in woman’s spaces. That’s it. “Female spaces should be exclusively for females, not for biological males,” he said

Trudeau responds repeatedly stating Poilievre is attacking the LGBTQ-etc… community, but they’re never mentioned by Poilievre, at all….& Trudeau accuses Poilievre of being divisive, etc…Speaking from Edmonton, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau did not address the substance of the issue, but attacked Conservative politicians for wanting to “pick up a fight” with the LGBTQ community.
An Angus Reid survey, which was released Sept. 19, 2023 found a clear majority of Canadians opposed to the adoption of “gender neutral” terminology, particularly when it came to issues such as menstruation or childbirth. For instance, it is now standard for Canadian public health agencies to use the term “pregnant people” instead of “pregnant women.” Select health agencies have also adopted the term “chestfeeding” as a synonym for “breastfeeding” and this still has nothing to do with Poilievre said that biological men shouldn’t be in women’s safe spaces.

As far back as 2016, Angus Reid found more than 80 per cent of Canadians supporting the addition of gender identity to the country’s anti-discrimination laws, but respondents were more skeptical of a push to have transgender people use washrooms and change rooms that accorded with their gender identity, rather than their biological sex.

Poilievre said that many gender-related spaces are either provincially or municipally regulated and cannot be legislated by the federal government, so “it is unclear” what a future Conservative government could do to restrict them to girls and women who were born female.

“But obviously, female sports, female change rooms, female bathrooms should be for females — not for biological males,” he said.

Not to be left out, but also to not say anything actually asked of him, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh skirted the question of “women-only” spaces by insisting that domestic violence or harassment and abuse perpetrated by male coaches towards women in sports are far more pressing issues that should be addressed to protect women?? What? What the Hell Jagmeet? Did you hear the question? As well as Justin heard Pierre’s answer to it?

With food bank use at an all-time high, this all has a certain Marie Antoinette hauteur about it. As the hoi polloi is priced out of the housing market and struggles to buy basic groceries, our government has all four feet in the trough, vacuuming up every last juicy morsel it can put on an expense account.

It’s rapidly becoming apparent that ministers in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government don’t view government as a sacred trust with the people they govern.

No, they view it as an all-you-can eat buffet, where the goal is to scarf down as much filet mignon and lobster as possible.

Taxpayers are struggling to pay their rents. Grocery prices are so high, many shoppers take a pass on the meat aisle. Homeowners face the grim reality of renegotiating their mortgages at sky high rates. The Bank of Canada hiked interest rates 10 times between March 2022 and July 2023, largely as a result of Trudeau’s irresponsible and inflationary overspending.

Funny how the left is insisting anyone self identifying as female must be permitted into womens bathrooms and sports, but then they openly support a blacks only space in university.

Explaining the timing of the non-universal sort of framework towards a Pharmacare deal maybe someday…The Liberal/NDP government will table the budget on April 16, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced on Monday.

Under the confidence and supply non-coalition coalition agreement that’s definitely not a coalition-type coalition, with the NDP/Liberals on board, the Liberal/NDP’s should have support for this budget and one further document in 2025.

I haven’t had time to read the article at this point, but does Freeland define what middle-class actually is or just points out the road towards some vague concept?
Some vague concept it is , more houses and more jobs allowing more to reach the middle class . And more deficit and debt of course .
