it is confirmed now, the all star game will play the format I mentioned earlier.

the two western divisions against each other, then same in the east, then the two winners for the
overall win.

one million dollars to the winner.

should be fun to watch.
Meh, I quit watching the All-Star game years ago. I still watch the skills competition and a few of the other events over the weekend but the All-Star games are just horrible anymore. I guess they might as well try 3 on 3 because I've never seen much reason for having defensemen in an All-Star game anyway

its not really that the all star game is awful generally, its what many expect from that game. to
think that 'all stars' should arrive at that game, then play as though they were playing for the
Stanley cup, or any other game that has huge benefits to the winner, such as a playoff series win,
or Olympic win, or any such thing, is ridiculous.

its only an exhibition game, there should not be any hitting, and when one focuses on just who
is sitting there watching, it is mainly families with children who have come to see the best players
in the world, getting together to showcase their sport, and no one wants to see any of those players
being carted out of the building on a stretcher, or crutches, etc.

wrong expectations from most people, who, by the way won't even be there, will be sitting on their
sofas at home whining and complaining because they aren't jumping out of their seats watching huge
hits, fighting etc.

for example, if the game was in vancouver, and I attended, I would thoroughly enjoy myself, able
to see 'all' of 'those' players in one place, doing their skills, shaking hands, talking one on one
to fans, then taking part in an 'exhibition' game.

its not for tv excitement, its for 'being there' excitement.

the 3 on 3 will add more to the game, will be faster, no hitting, but lots of competetition to be the
team to take home the million bucks.

wow, Calgary played tonight like they did last season, great game
with Chicago, end to end, fast skating, johnny gudreau scored
in OT
too bad gudreau is American, I can just see him playing with mcDavid and
ryan nugent Hopkins, hall, toews, Tavares, crosby on team Canada, would be awesome.

in our house it was henry Richard, guy lefleur, and company, we had nothing in the west to cheer
about, but the canadiens were everything, listened to them on the radio for years till I was
about 17 yrs old, first saw a television.

going into the 3rd, very different game compared to chic/calg last night, which was very fast and open,
end to end.
this one has its moments, but both teams have let up from time to time, canucks started second period
horribly, but got it together, and looked pretty good rest of the way, now going into 3rd.
well, that was fun, what a battle, the sedins were vintage tonight, 9 points
between them, Daniel a hat trick, what a homecoming, must feel good for them
after that road trip from hell.
way to go boys, definitely gave the fans their moneys worth.

and yeah, just watching post game, 'ONE HAT ?'

canuck game was pretty flat compared to last nights, a big push right near the end,
but too little too late, and of course Schneider was his usual perfect technical
self in goal, so very hard to get any pucks past him.

weird game between Ottawa and dallas, Ottawa badly outshot, but they capitalized on
dallas 'cough' ups, won the game 7 - 4

Calgary playing Anaheim as we speak, half way thru, tied at 2, Anaheim went on to
win the game, 5 - 3

just 2 games tonight

Broadway Blues put on a thoroughly pathetic display. Their blue liners are just too puny to push away the charging forwards and allowed goalie Lundqvist to get pummeled.

Happens every single year - management always fill up the lineup with skillful but puny players. By the time the playoffs begin, they are worn out by the tougher players on the other teams and they never win the Stanley Cup.

fine line between winning losing sometimes, good example was Vancouver/minny game tonight, don't know
why that puck didn't go in to tie the game right near the end, but good for canucks to get the win

Habs > Rangers 5-1

montreal have a smaller team than the rangers.
these two teams are among the top in all the nhl.
only one team can win the cup, need lots of luck along with the skill,
all pieces have to fall in place, could happen to any team that makes the playoffs.

Lundqvist always has trouble with low shots and allowed a couple of goals that would ordinarily would have been stopped. A couple of Blues were injured in the match and they will be needed back real soon.

Isles > Rangers 2-0 in OT shoot out

very intense game and the Brooklyn crowd was wild - lots of hard hits -- this is what NHL hockey is all about

you bet it is, a very intense game, the way the nhl games should be played, a big rivalry between these
two teams, a very good game to watch.

I was happy to see the oilers win in a shoot out over boston tonight, not a
great game overall, but a good outcome.

San Bernardino survivor's house burglarized; L.A. Kings step up to help heal the wounds

After surviving the San Bernardino massacre, Natassa Torralbo was victimized a second time.
While attending a vigil for the co-workers she lost, Torralbo's home was burglarized.
That night she returned home to find a number of precious items – her weapons, jewelry and more – gone.
Then she saw her hanger, sitting empty, in her closet.
“I was like, 'Oh my God, they took my Gretzky jersey,' Torralbo said.
Enter the Los Angeles Kings. After hearing of Torralbo's tale of misfortune, the NHL club stepped up and invited Torralbo and her daughter to attend a Kings game, where they also presented her with a new Gretzky sweater.
Having been through untold anguish, Torralbo broke down.
“What the Kings did is just phenomenal,” Torralbo said. “Thank you, L.A. Kings.
“Go Kings!” she added as tears dropped down her cheek.
“I'm speechless. I didn't expect any of this at all. I'm just so grateful. Thank you.”
Natassa Torralbo attends a recent L.A. Kings game.
