Sabres' Kane the subject of sex offence probe
By Mike Zeisberger, Toronto Sun
First posted: Sunday, December 27, 2015 06:52 PM EST | Updated: Sunday, December 27, 2015 07:29 PM EST
BROOKLYN - Another hockey player named Kane is the subject of a sex offence investigation. Only this time it's Evander Kane, not Patrick.
Citing three law enforcement sources, The Buffalo News reports police are probing an incident that allegedly occurred at a downtown hotel near Buffalo's First Niagara Center Sunday morning.
Keep this in mind: no charges have been filed against Kane, who was absent from Sabres practice on Sunday for "personal reasons."
According to The News, law enforcement officials would confirm only that there is an ongoing investigation by officers from the department’s Sex Offense Squad.
“We have an investigation ongoing,” a Buffalo police source told The News. “We are not naming the suspect, and we do not expect it to be resolved in the very near future.”
Another law enforcement source told The News that the alleged victim (a woman) was having “memory issues.”
For their part, the Sabres issued the following statement on Sunday afternoon.
“We take the allegation made today against Evander Kane very seriously. We are gathering facts and have been in touch with the NHL and Evander’s representatives. Until we have more information we will not have any additional comment,” the statement said.
Kane had a goal and 19:47 of ice time in a 6-3 win at Boston Saturday night. The Sabres host the Washington Capitals Monday.
Interestingly, a law enforcement source told The News that Kane is represented by Paul J. Cambria, the lawyer who served as Patrick Kane’s representative during an investigation into sexual assault allegations against the Blackhawks star for an alleged incident in nearby Hamburg on Aug. 3. The NHL's leading scorer wasn't charged.

interesting, I wonder how this one will go, and also interesting that it is also in buffalo.

after the dust settled in Patrick kane's alleged victims complaints, it seemed quite obvious that the two women,
mother and daughter had planned this trumped up charge, and also made some ridiculous blunders
along the way, and consequently there were no charges against Patrick.

now we have a new one to follow, in the same city? I wonder, maybe this one is legitimate, maybe
not, we'll have to follow along and see the outcome.

Sabres' Evander Kane on sex offence allegation: 'I've done nothing wrong'
By Mike Zeisberger, Toronto Sun
First posted: Monday, December 28, 2015 12:25 PM EST | Updated: Monday, December 28, 2015 08:26 PM EST
As Evander Kane was skating in the warmup prior to the Buffalo Sabres’ game against the Washington Capitals on Monday night, the in-house isolation camera projected his image on the First Niagara Center video screen for all to see.

On the surface, it would seem to have been an uncomfortable moment for the Sabres left winger, who is the target of the glaring public spotlight already while facing an investigation by the Buffalo Police Sex Offense squad.

But Kane is not backing down from his declaration of innocence, a stance he preached Monday.

“I just want to say I’ve done nothing wrong,” Kane told reporters. “I look forward to clearing my name.”

According to the Buffalo News, sources familiar with the case said Kane told people that he had consensual sex with a young woman who allegedly is his accuser after meeting her in a downtown bar and bringing to his room in the Buffalo Marriott HarborCenter early Sunday morning. Kane, who was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets last season, is living at that hotel.

Police were subsequently called to a Buffalo hospital where the woman was being treated for an injury. Her statement to authorities sparked the Sex Offense Squad to look into whether she had been sexually assaulted.

Given the publicity surrounding the recent sexual assault investigation in Erie County of Blackhawks star Patrick Kane — one that was dropped last month — authorities understandably are moving ahead with caution, especially after they said the woman in the Evander Kane situation told police that she had “no recollection” of what transpired with him.

Evander Kane, whose SUV reportedly was seized as part of the investigation, hired attorney Paul J. Cambria, the same man who represented Patrick Kane.

“He vehemently denies doing anything wrong — and I believe in Evander,” Cambria told the Buffalo News.

Authorities also searched Kane’s room at the Marriott, where he is living. No charges have been laid against him.

Kane addressed the situation with his teammates on Monday.

“It’s a serious accusation, but at the same time, that’s what it is at this point in time,” Sabres captain Brian Gionta told reporters in Buffalo. “And until things change, he’s our teammate and that’s about it.”

And the evilest is 'the little ball of hate' who is sitting out a 3-game suspension.

Boston finally got on the board but Max P just gave the Habs a 3-goal lead again with an assist by Brandon G.

yes, he really hurt his team with that classless move, just like he did to sami salo, and I was glad they
showed that move as well over and over.

habs have part of their problem solved, with Gallagher back, now if they could just get price back, they'll be back
in business, although this goalie is doing just fine, but still 'not' price.

One of Condon's best saves, IMHO, was when he caught the puck in his glove with one second left on the clock in the 2nd period - as Don would say - it was a beauty.

Maybe, Boston would do better if the trainers didn't keep running out of bananas.

I just read that 'connor mcDavid' took part in a team practice, non contact for him at this point, but

it is exciting to know that it isn't far off that we will see him again, playing.

interesting stat I just heard the other day. for the first time in the history of the NHL

Canada has less than 50% of the players, we could see that slowly coming, and now it is here,

the u.s. will continue building, they now have the most players, and they will not look

back now, Canada can't compete with their numbers any more.

also it would be better if Canada would not allow so many immigrant players into their

junior leagues, but I guess without them, there wouldn't be enough money, so lots of Canadian

players will be left out, who could have gone on to continue developing their game, playing junior hockey.

Not really too surprising, I suppose given we are 35 million vs. the rest of the world. I think if we allow people to be immigrants, then I'm not in favour of excluding them from things Canadians have the right to do.

those immigrant players are not immigrant citizens, they are players playing in other countries,
and they pay big bucks, and also have to be good players, to come into Canada, 'JUST' to play
hockey, not to live permanately.
if they end up being drafted, then they will report to their nhl team, or play
in the ahl, till they are called up to play on their nhl team, if ever they do.
some of those players will go back home to live, if they are not chosen in the
draft.

It's a business and in business the Big Fish eat the Small Fish.

well the thing is, that the junior leagues 'need' the money, without those funds that come from the
players from other countries, it would be difficult to have enough money to run the junior league,
but there should be another way to get that money to work with, without having to bring in foreign
players, who are charged high fees to come, and they are willing to pay just to get on a Canadian
junior team.
perhaps the Canadian NHL teams should be overseeing the Canadian junior leagues, top up their funds
when needed, and work to get corporate funding as well.

then, they could just use Canadian players, and the other countries would have to find a way to
have their own junior league, surely with all of those teams from Sweden, russia, finland, etc etc
they can raise the money to support their own league, and the Canadian junior leagues would have
all those spaces to bring up Canadian players.

I mean, look what happened to some of the Russian juniors who got all of their junior playing in
Canada, then were drafted onto an nhl team, stayed around in n. America for awhile, then wanted
to go home, after the Canadian junior organization spent all that time working with them, saw
them thru the draft, only to see them walk away a few years later, doesn't make sense.
