whew! thought Nashville was gonna make a comeback and win it since they had just about all the momentum in the third period

you get a sense from watching these latest games that there is a playoff atmosphere in all the games being played - makes you wonder if some match is gonna feature an all out bench clearing brawl

Was a wild one! Again, you could sense that there was a playoffs atmosphere but the home team Devs came up just short as a last second shot which scored was one second too late.

i watched calgary defeat detroit tonight and edmonton went right to a shoot out with chicago then lost out.
but looked like the better team much of the game.

Stan Fischler (who like Old Man River just keeps rolling along at age 82+) said on MSG tv that there was much controversy in NY over that move. Many critics said the Rangers have sacrificed too much of their future and need to alter their strategy.

I know what a terrible mistake that tactic can be from the Vikings experience when they gave up so much in the Herschel Walker deal. To this day the team is still trying to recover.

Tonight the Jersey Devils won 3-1 over Nashville. Late in the game Mike Cammallieri broke away and was tripped up by Seth Jones and the ref awarded an automatic goal. Good move on his part. Devils finally reach .500. Perhaps with a late season surge they just might make it to the playoffs.

That trade was insane.

vancouver, calgary and winnipeg are now struggling to stay inside playoff position, i predicted these
three teams would probably be left out of playoffs from early on, as minnesota, l.a. and
san jose probably would push their way up the board, into playoffs.

minny is now ahead of all three of them by 3 points, and l.a. and san jose not far behind, these 3
teams will have to fight and scratch all the way home now, to stay inside 8th place.

they could end up in a wild card position, but first wild card plays 2nd team in conference and 2nd
wildcard plays top team in conference, and the 2 wildcards are chosen from conference position not
division, so it could happen that both wildcards are from same division.

san jose definitely got some help on trade deadline day, and also those 4 pts
they earned immediately after that day has bolstered them big time, and they
are feeling pretty good about themselves right now, so they need a couple of losses
in a row to push them back a bit again.

that "trade" was done by Mike Lynn who proceeded to get a sweet heart deal in which he profited from the Metrodome's gate receipts - the stadium was built by taxpayer dollars but he and other wealthy elites profited from it -- the SOB was nothing but a crook

colorado 4-0 columbus,
t bay 5-4 dallas
mtl. 2-0 arizona
winn. 3-1 nashville
pitts 1-0 l.a. OT
van. 3-2 san jose

winnipeg gained a point, vancouver gained 2 col gained 2

vancouver probably won the most important game at this time, as a loss could have put them
below 8th spot. when the first period was over i thought the game was going to belong to
san jose, they played a great period of hockey and seemed to set the tone, BUT when the 2nd
period started i saw san jose begin to sag a bit, and vancouver begin to settle in and relax
and play a better brand of hockey, the third period brought san jose back into the game a bit to try to tie the
score, but vancouver wasn't having any of it.

bo horvat scored a beautiful goal, nice to see his offense starting to show, he
is such a complete player, just shows everyone how the team will build again
as the rest of the young players begin to come onto the team and build their
games as well, some nice prospects waiting in the wings, and in the meantime
willie desjardin keeps this team rolling along, with a mix of players who are
high end such as vrbata as a scorer and a complete player, henrik is playing
good hockey, and good players who keep the energy and secondary scoring going,
and a few ahl type of players who are helping out, and of course eddie lack,
who is a gem, he made a couple of mistakes tonight, but that didn't change
his game, he dug in a got better as the game went along.
good win

In my opinion the resulting Cowboys team was the best NFL team of all time. Somewhat short-lived due to Aikman's injuries, but they just crushed everyone on their way to 3 super bowl wins. They were loaded in every facet of the game.

three Super Bowl wins in an age of free agency is tough to match - meanwhile the Vikings fortunes went downhill because of that dumb azz trade

--------

Did you catch that Ranger-Black Hawks match tonight?

Broadway Blues win in OT. Another game with a playoffs atmosphere. I was in a chat room and we all agreed it was one of the best games of the year.

yes, good game, i watched most of it, so now in the lAst 2 days i've seen 4 very good teams play to a
0-0 tie in regulation time, as last night l.a. and pitts did the same, and pitts won it in OT. 1-0

it was nice to see minnesota defeated by colorado today, as minnesota has been playing fAr too good, we need to put a stop to that.

minnesota outplayed colorado, but colorado scored all of the goals, go figure.

Islanders > Toronto 4-3 in OT

I was d@mning up a store cause the Isles gave up a big early lead. But they scored three in the third period and got the winner in OT as Tavares scored it in front of a highly pro Isles crowd and in front of his parents. One bad note: they lost the services of Nick Leddy who has made excellent contributions to the team success. Let's hope his injury is not too serious.

Great to see all those Isles fans travel with the squad and, again, a very playoff like atmosphere.

edmonton played a good game tonight, but were defeated by detroit, 2 empty net goals scored on them near the end, so they are now
mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

toronto lost to islanders

nashville over arizona in OT

vancouver over anaheim 2-1 in reg. time, canucks tried to defend a 1-0 lead but finally anaheim scored,
then vancouver turned it on, and played to win, and did it well, and a beautiful give and go between
hamhuis and kassian, and kassian scored the winner.

another good win for canucks.

san jose just defeated pittsburg in a shoot out

canucks are only 4 points behind chicago now, do ya think maybe they cAn catch ---------naw, i'm not
even going there. lol

Nah, they have better things to do than beat Chicago- beat Anaheim and then Chicago probably won't be a concern:)

i was suggesting canucks could pass them on the standings, they don't have to beat them to do that,
although they do have one more game in chicago early april.

Rangers > Islanders 2-1

this was more than a playoffs atmosphere = instead, it more of a Stanley Cup finals atmosphere

GREAT game with the crowd fired up rooting for both teams. If you missed it, try to catch a replay cause this was a goody fer sure.

caught some of it, but there was western conference games on as well, so i was watching bits of other
games.

winnipeg/st.louis, they were tied with one minute to go, and a puck shot from just inside center
ice went in the net, pavelic didn't seem to see it coming at all till it was right in front of him.
very tough loss for winnipeg

so st. louis won.

minnesota over new jersey, dAllas over philly, l.a. over colorado

i see many playoff like games now, the intensity has ramped up, the end is near.

Still about 15 games and I'll bet we won't know some of the results until the last game or two. Still time for a lot to happen.

yes, and really this is the ultimate we should want, when we are nearing the end of the season, the
mystery, the wondering, the hoping, the possibilities, the ultimate, the worst, all of those things
going thru our minds, is much better than either seeing your team 'out' of it, or seeing your team
soring at the top, but worried that some team might catch them,no, it is the battle that is everything, as for most fans the cup is everything, but
as i've said more than once, that cup isn't everything to me, it is just the end of the hockey
year, and some team will drive that cup all over the place yipping and hollering, showing it to fans,
but it is really just a big silver cup with names all over it, and 29 other teams didn't win it, just
one team, i wish everyone would see the wonderment of the journey, as so many fans miss that great
trip thru the season, And keep looking ahead wanting 'thAt' cup, and the truth is, the team that wins
the cup, in reality really isn't the best team in the nhl, but the team that went thru the playoffs,
and everything went right for them, and they came out the winner, for that year.
i love the season, i love the playoffs, the intensity and energy to win every series, cAn't get
better than that, for all the teams participating, i enjoy all of them.

as far as that cup goes, before you take a drink out of it, think about what might hAve been in there
before you got it. lol

NYR > Wash 3-1

again, a hyper playoff atmosphere - and amazingly, there was a huge presence of Rangers fans

For some reason (and this has happened several times to me) with 30 seconds to go, the online stream that I'm watching disappears and I miss the end of the game. Had to go to Google to confirm that the score was accurate. Well, can't complain too much as watching for free online is a lot better than paying $100 per month for cable bills.

great hockey game, very fAst and intense, 3rd period was a bit slower for rangers, you could see they
were a bit tired from playing last night, but stayed with it, and that break away was magic, sealed
the deal, now they are on top of their division.
