as do many u.s. cities, and a 2nd team will show up in the southern ontario area in the next few years,
but they do have to put a couple of teams in the western conference, as the east have two more teams
than the west.

That could be accomplished by moving boundaries, eg. Pittsburgh & CBJcould be shifted over to the west. Maybe it's time to take a look at Seattle- bigger population base there than around Vancouver. Quebec City could be risky.

columbus was 'just' shifted from the west to the east, and pittsburgh would never be put in the west

they are trying to keep the time zones as close to north/south as possible, to help teams with
zone changes as they travel.

they are looking at seattle, but seattle is trying to get another NBA team, and the same building could
be used for NHL hockey, it has been talked about with NHL, but nothing happening yet, the basketball
takes priority, they need to land 'that' franchise first, before they would accept an NHL team, and of all places, las vegas, and they have had lots of talks with them.

Can you imagine some abject idiot giving basketball precedence over hockey? :) :)

Philly > Rangers 4-2

Broadway Blues can look like Stanley Cup champs one night and really stink it up the next night.

that happens with many teams, the league is so close in strength, if any team lets up on any given night,
they can be beaten by any other team, that is really a good thing, not a bad thing, keeps all teams on
their toes, no easy games at all.

trading deadline is in two days so they better make a quick move if they want to improve their chances in the playoffs

yes, some trades have happened allready, chicago made big trade to help take kane's place. i willbe
watching early monday morning, but things usually don't happen till later in the morning, maybe this
year will be different.

in the NHL because of those extra long playoff tournaments (which, of course, I have always objected to) you have no choice - you must give up either draft choices, or trade some young prospects in the minor leagues and shore up your squad, especially on defense or on two way players

let's hope the Rangers don't wait until every other team has gotten the better players - make that move, now!

montreal is going to be very tough to beat out in the playoffs, and they just did a trade to help themselves.
so if the rangers have any idea of beating them out, they better do something at the deadline, or tomorrow.
oilers sat out petry tonight because of something in the wind, didn't want him to get injured, when they
are trying to trade him, don't think rangers are looking for 'him', they need something a bit better.

winnipeg folded because corporate money ran out, they couldn't get anyone on board, but that city
suffered thru the years of no team, now they don't want that to happen again.

Winnipeg didn't fold. They moved....and the reason they moved was because salaries were skyrocketing, the Canadian dollar was crashing and the movers and shakers falsely assumed that there was unlimited potential for growth in the US.

thats exactly what i meant, when i said fold i didn't mean all the players packed their skates and went
home, hockey 'folded' in winnipeg, and the people with the money bailed because of the economy, hockey
survived in the rest of canada under the same circumstances.

good for winnipeg beating l.a., but it does keep them ahead of the canucks.

washington 4-0 over toronto

anaheim 3 dallas 1

canucks over st. louis 6-5 SO, won it the hard way, but doesn't say that on the stat sheet, keeps
canucks one point behind winnipeg, and ahead of minny by two.

lots of tough games ahead, tuesday against san jose.

Toronto is going for McDavid. If Buffalo wins 40% of their remaining games the Leafs just might. They're a Joffrey Lupul trade away from not winning another game this year.

Rangers got a good two way player in (D) Keith Yandle - but I'm afraid they gave up too much for him as they have now given up # 1 draft choices for 2013, 2014, 2015, and either 2016 or 2017. They also gave up a couple of # 2 draft choices but I'm not sure for which years. They picked up a center named James Shepherd but I confess to not knowing him or how much he can contribute to their game for the balance of the season and playoffs. Hated to see Anthony Duclair go.

In tonight's game they beat Nashville 4-1 with a good defensive effort. Mind you their D was not very physical but it play smart. And that's the type of player Yandle is.

Mats Zuccarello signs for another 4 years - that will bring them some measure of stability.
