Well I am not a fan of fights, gopher and the hit, which was illegal and down right dirty, didn't happen during a fight. It happened in open ice right in front of a ref who was so shocked he actually jumped back. Torres will be out for the rest of the play-offs and if he can't clean up his act he should be out of the game.

In other play-off news, the Senators won their game against the Rangers in OT off a first-time beauty goal from Turris and in doing so tied the series 2 - 2. Well done Sens!

On local radio people are still talking about it and some saying it was perfectly legal.

Braden Holtby from Lloyminster, Saskatchewan snagged a puck in the final seconds of the 3rd period to give his team, the Washington Capitols, a 2 - 1 win over the Boston Bruins and forcing at least six games in the series. 45 saves on the night for Braden - not bad for a rookie. The Bruins had many chances to take the game but for the steadfast net minding of the Capitol goalie. His last seconds save will be a highlight of the night, for sure.

The Chicago Blackhawks got a goal in the final minutes of their 3rd period with the Coyotes to tie the game and once again the teams will go to overtime.

Ah, gopher, you will always have the armchair coaches, no matter they work for the media or are simply an opinionated fan. Best you watch the replays for yourself and make up your own mind. Once seen, it obvious beyond any doubt that Torres launched himself at Hossa and that alone is a nasty penalty.

Coyotes just beat Hawks in O.T. ..............Maybe the Canucks won't get a chance to feast on them. That would be the epitome of poetic justice!

I don't like the Coyotes much, JLM.........not that I really like the Hawks either but the latter have some players that I do really like, Captain Serious and Patrick Kane to name only a couple.

Have to admit that Torres does have hockey skills but none of the ones that are connected to a brain. It's safe to say he isn't a direct descendent of Einstein or a Rhodes Scholar and not an imminent candidate for Mensa.:lol:

My feelings about Chicago were pretty well neutral until Daniel got mugged.

I was alittle dissappointed when I finally say this infamous Torres hit. It seemed rather tame.

I can understand that, JLM................it was dirty nasty thing to do and robbed the team of his skills, but I simply can't hold the entire team to blame for it. I highly doubt Jonathan was jumping for joy.

Hossa might disagree with you on that, Kreskin.

The Bruins actually had an extra 5.3 seconds on the clock to tie the game...........seems there was a problem with the time clock and the refs couldn't get the players attention in time to reset the clock.............there but for fortune!

Not sure what the big deal is about feet leaving the ice. You have less leverage when in the air. I think it's one of those phantom hockey issues and just an easier way to create villains.

You don't need a lot of leverage, Kreskin.........the power is already in the launch and it is not like he wanted to get into a fight with Hossa.

The TSN Panel voted two to 1, for a Pittsburgh over Canucks comeback, Bob MacDonald was the lone hold-out for the Canucks. Me, I think they will both come back - still lookin' for that Pens vs Canucks final.

are you serious? no. I guess you'd be right if one was standing still, then try to launch, guess that
wouldn't be called a charge. lol

that charging rule has been in the game for eons.

St Louis up by two (2 to zip) with under 4 mins to go in the 3rd. Eliot has been redoubtable for the Blues and though Niemi let in two, he has stopped only one less puck than Eliot.

There was some pretty good hockey played tonight, had me switching between games.

yeah, me too, I did have a break for a while, didn't watch all of the early games, just makes it too long
sitting there, so we went for a drive for an hour, then got back for most of the st. louis/san jose game,
as that was the one I was most interested in today.

but while we were driving team 1040 was announcing goals for both of the other games, and played the
chicago/phoenix game live for the last 2 minutes, then the overtime.

I have taken a real interest in the Bruins vs Caps series finding myself cheering on Washington simply because I begrudge the Bruins even one more win. LOL! And that young Braden Holtby deserves my attention.

The problem with the NHL right now is everything is a suspension. How about just calling a penalty? For example why is every elbow a suspension now? Why not just an elbowing penalty like the rule states? The standard answer is "headshots". Well where else is someone going to be elbowed? Every elbow is to the head somewhere and every incident comes with a trial at head office yet the rule penalizes with a 2 minute infraction.

And all this head office involvement doesn't do a thing to clean anything up.

I think the idea may be to reduce the frequency of occurances. Was the frequency decreasing while it was "just a penalty"?
