that hit by torres was a tad late, but he 'left his feet', 'launched himself into hossa,' and that has
always been a penalty.
its too bad he is so stupid, and can't seem to learn, because he was having a very good year, he is
a decent hockey player and had established himself on the phoenix team as one of their better players,
so he not only hurt hossa, he hurt his team as they have to go on thru the playoffs now without him,
and he hurt himself, because he will not be able to play.
On the radio today they re-played that incident as reported by both the victim and the aggressor's announcers. The victim's team said it was aggressive and should result in a long suspension. The aggressor's team said it was a perfectly clean hit.
Since you folks here like the fights and all I would suppose you view it as legit. In truth, I thought he hit him with a shoulder which would make it legal (at least this was so in the old days). We'll see what happens next ....

those responses have been the same since hockey began, thats nothing new.
torres's hit was charging, as he 'left his feet', which has been a charging penalty forever.
he didn't actually target his head, but the hit was high, and hossa hit his head hard on the ice.
it was the open ice, fast skating charge, then he launched up into hossa, on the video it is clear
how high his feet were off of the ice, hossa was hit in the chin area as well,
as torres came up off of the ice.
the spontaneious fight is not the big problem in the game, although some day fighting might be abolished,
and it might not, it is the hits like torres did, and other hits that are targeted to the head, and the
hits from behind that run players into the boards. Those are the dangerous moves in a hockey game.
