The book is (naturally) much better. There is no main character rather it is an account pieced together by an author after the Zombie War. So there is no Brad Pitt like character. It is a compilation of stories from soldiers, politicians, doctors, and civilians from the start of the outbreak, failed tactics of fighting zombies, changing tactics and eliminating the zombie hordes, to clean up and slow progress back for those left. Real cool stuff.

Yes I'd heard that, aside from the premise being about zombies, it's very realistic. So not the typical good guy, bad monster, good guy wins in the end. More how it would be if it really were real, many would fail.

Pitt was what I disliked the most about the film. I run hot and cold with him, he can be brilliant in a film (Fight Club or Twelve Monkeys) but other times, like in this film, he's so wooden he actually comes across boring.

The little girl at the beginning of Dawn of the Dead. No matter how many times I've seen it, I still jump when she jumps back up and scampers down the hall towards the bedroom. The movement is so......unnatural.

I know! And when they turned they were SOOOO P*SSED OFF! Absolutely mindless with one thought... EAT!

The beginning when the nurse got outside was insane. The neighborhood going nuts. Fires... people getting chased. When she is driving and you can see the chaos all over.

Things completely falling apart.

I love Walking Dead because of it's exploration of survival and it's impact on the human condition. Couple that with the excitement, scares and well developed characters, it's a great show.

Me too. That is what I like.

And the tough decisions they had to make.

7...8...9...10...11...12...train is in the station

One of my favorite parts. Remember that?

Audio only... still great.

Maybe they needed a Snickers? You know, people aren't themselves when they're hungry. :D

Yes and juxtaposing that with her previous drive home from work. The aerial shots in both instances, one showing the pristine suburbs (the epitome of safety in society) and the next morning where it all goes to hell. Quite the contrast!

Can't believe neither of us mentioned Zombieland. Even as a comedy, zombies work! lol

Getting home and talking about the latest guy sent off from American Idol... a nice shower (lol).... then waking up to the girl on roller skates from the night before biting her husbands neck.

That was a good one too. A truck full of those snowballs instead of Twinkies. :)

Yep. Again loving the subtext, how quickly it can all fall apart. Love that it's used so much by the CDC or for basic survival training purposes (to add some fun and interest ovbviously).

Such dark humour, right up my alley! (Seriously, Sal, if you haven't seen it, you should check it out) And loved, loved, loved the Bill Murray part! LMAO

Because I am a zombie movie fan I give it 5 Stars. It was a break from the cheesy slow walking zombie movies from the 70's and 80's. These zombies ran full speed and were raging once they turned. Similar to the movie World War Z. I especially liked the beginning of Dawn of the Dead remake when things fell apart. Great special effects and very tense.

I understand that they could not make Walking Dead zombies move so fast like that because there would not be any characters left. (As SLM's clip shows.)
okay I am going to check them out...thanks

omg, omg, omg...16 minutes in and completely hooked and I have to go out...waaaaaaaaah, they just got into the mall...

Another good "falling apart" movie is The Stand.

I was yes, thought I would do a quick check out of the movie before heading out, problem was I really got into it...now I have to wait for it to load again, then I am going to get back into it...hope they can keep up the intrigue.

I like when movies/shows have subtle indicators such as; she just met the cop, and had decided she was "maybe" gonna go with the group because it sounded smart but yet, she hesitated because the cop had gotten her this far so there was a bit of hesitation to join the group. I like that kind of nuance...it makes it for me...bang ya over the head obvious doesn't work for me, I get bored fast.

I don't know how I missed this movie...so far, so good.

Even the opening credits were good!

From what I heard the opening credits were about 15+ minutes after the beginning of the film... longest wait time for opening credits in a movie.

Watched Zombieland twice. Woody H. was great.

Loved it when Bill Murray took buckshot............take that to your $$^%#$&* groundhog.

Murray and capt. Kirk should join Overactors Anonymous .

Find it hard to get interested in most zombie movies.

T'each his own eh.;-)

Zombie pornos would be neat............

:tongue3:

Except that they do it purposefully and play it for laughs.

The whole Bill Murray's house bit was fantastic, especially the buckshot scene.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!!"

"No, no. My bad."

LMAO

The kid's voice commentary throughout the movie was great too.

yes no problem with this one...let me try the quote again, although when in prior, I did it 3 times...it would give a reply box but it had nothing in it....let's try

Other than World War Z, I can't think of anything.

But don't be so quick to dismiss the action-comedies. Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead are probably amongst some of the greatest zombie movies ever made. Shaun of the Dead is absolutely brilliant, I've watched it several times.

The Brits made a movie called 28 Days I think that was zombie like. Then a sequel 28 Days Later.

Yeah they weren't walking dead though, it was a virus that made them crazed, rabid, psychotic.

So, along those lines (zombie like) I'd add Quarantine and The Crazies.
