A few thoughts about last night's episode......

1. Where the hell has Morgan been? The Ninja Academy???? Dude could barely fire a rifle in the first episode, now he's all 'wax-on/wax-off'!
dying to hear his tale, they really set us up last night for Season 6...their writers are slick

2. How in the hell did Daryl, of all people, miss the big glaring "It's a trap" message bundled up in three food trucks just lying around? I mean, really? He knows that wild leeks will keep mosquitos away but misses this......
he was with Aaron and he really likes Aaron and he feels a part of things now...it was kind of human...he needs some healing time after Beth and this is his time

3. Glenn has to take the prize for "keeping it together dude" of all time. How he has not killed Nicholas yet, I have no idea. And how does the guy get shot, fall down a hill and end up behind the guy that shot him a minute later? Maybe he went to the Ninja Academy too.
I don't think that was a minute later, I got the impression that it was hours no? If he is infected, I quit. :( I love Glenn
But big bonus, porch dick is dead. Although that's got to be an awkward renunion for Rick & Morgan eh? Morgan is all zen and Rick is all blood spattered vigilante.
yes that was an excellent set up...Morgan is going to be "the teacher" the philosopher, he will take Hershel's place for a bit...we need a Hershel who has no fear of standing up to the group and saying you are behaving like dicks because he would have had everyone calmed down far faster especially Rick

poor Karl...this is home, right dad...right?

And please somebody punch Gabriel in the face for leaving the damn gate open.
Ironic eh...he locked his whole congregation out of the church and left them to the walkers and they died...then he nearly kills this group by leaving the gate "open"...I love how they do this kind of stuff to twist our minds.

the whole pray in thing kind of a good contrast to the slash and puke

poor Deanna...I liked the hubby, was a short stay for him...too bad

I'm going to have to rewatch that part.

They need a 'moral voice' now.

Yeah I know.

I would have been okay if they'd offed Gabe. He's self involved and I feel nothing for him. Well maybe some contempt.

That was Maggie channeling her dad I think.

poor Deanna...I liked the hubby, was a short stay for him...too bad
Yeah that was a harsh lesson for her. I hope she stays open minded though and focused on what she's trying to build. It's not a bad idea at all, they just need to be much more mindful of the dangers outside the walls that can get in.

me too

he is a coward, full of self hate and loathing, I am glad they didn't kill him because it's always good to either have someone to dislike or watch evolve into a human being...don't know which way this one will shake

omg...of course...hadn't thought of that at all

it was a terrible lesson for her in multiple ways...she knew he was violent and she was okey-dokey with him beating down on his wife because he was a doctor and it was best for the good of the community...I think one of the things they are highlighting here is, if it isn't good for one individual, then

it isn't good for the whole and needs to be examined...she didn't want to do that...she just accepted.

I think another irony with Pete is that he killed HER husband and then wham, not so accepting now that it has affected her..."do it Rick" whereas before it was "we don't do that here Rick".

I also think it is a prelude or foreshadowing about the wolves...Pete was a wolf. And the wolves are coming. The town got a wonderful lesson in what's on the outside from what's on the inside. We haven't met many yet...that will change next season I hope.

Why did Maggie look like death warmed over? Is she pregnant?

I remember when Bob was the self involved, self loathing one, but he at least seemed to be genuinely shameful. Weak and cowardly in his own way but he felt shame because of it. I don't know what it is about Gabriel, probably when he went to Deanna with his warning though. Because I always thought the saying was "let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

It also made her quite the hypocrite to pass judgement on others when she was ignoring the harm in her own community happening right under her nose. I can completely understand her reluctance to accept Rick's more drastic measures but she should be shameful of not addressing this before. She "hoped it would stop".....please, this woman is not stupid.

That's going to have to shake her up quite a bit when she has the time to settle on what she's participated in.

If so here's hoping she survives childbirth.

well we have to figure out what's happening with Glenn first I'm a bit worried about him...

my Rogers is sucking a rock today...can hardly load anything without a spinning circle of death hanging there...irritating...think I will go finish up on my BlackList...hope it gets better it's becoming a snooze.... or I will have to finish my 10,000 steps...hope BlackList picks up if for no reason other than my **** is tired and I can't treadmill one more step without collapsing......*yawn*...maybe just have more wine instead

Shows on at 9, how late do you eat?

Seems like it was on around suppertime out here in the western US but I was just kidding. I watch old movie classics on Netflix instead.

my girlfriend is in Edmonton they eat early when Walking Dead is on since it starts at 7 for them.

Have either of you seen the remake of Dawn of the Dead?

Read World War Z?
haven't seen it...

what would you rate it?

Yep. Great remake.

Read World War Z?
No, saw the movie. It was alright.

If you have Netflix, and it's still available on there (they change it so damned much!) I would recommend "Doc of the Dead". It's a documentary covering the evolution of the Zombie genre, and there's a three person panel (can't remember if it's at the end of the film or scattered through out) consisting of Romero, Kirkman and the guy who wrote World War Z (his name escapes me). It's really quite interesting to see their takes, so different. And just how the whole genre itself, out of all the "monster movies", really is always an interesting commentary on modern society.

Because I am a zombie movie fan I give it 5 Stars. It was a break from the cheesy slow walking zombie movies from the 70's and 80's. These zombies ran full speed and were raging once they turned. Similar to the movie World War Z. I especially liked the beginning of Dawn of the Dead remake when things fell apart. Great special effects and very tense.

I understand that they could not make Walking Dead zombies move so fast like that because there would not be any characters left. (As SLM's clip shows.)

The little girl at the beginning of Dawn of the Dead. No matter how many times I've seen it, I still jump when she jumps back up and scampers down the hall towards the bedroom. The movement is so......unnatural.

Dawn of the Dead as well, both original and remake, classically know as the quintessential commentary on consumerism.

I love Walking Dead because of it's exploration of survival and it's impact on the human condition. Couple that with the excitement, scares and well developed characters, it's a great show.

I used to avoid the zombie genre like the plague though, lol. The original Night of the Living Dead, it took me years before I could sit through the whole film. There is nothing more frightening to me than the notion that everyone can turn against you, it's a fear steeped deep in paranoia. Kind of a difficult place to go sometimes. But I got past most of that and can appreciate both the great 'monster movies' they are as well as the great subtext in them.

The book is (naturally) much better. There is no main character rather it is an account pieced together by an author after the Zombie War. So there is no Brad Pitt like character. It is a compilation of stories from soldiers, politicians, doctors, and civilians from the start of the outbreak, failed tactics of fighting zombies, changing tactics and eliminating the zombie hordes, to clean up and slow progress back for those left. Real cool stuff.
