Luckily, no one died of shock:

Xiuhua reportedly took a fall last month and hurt herself. Her two daughters, both in their 70s, came to Xiuhua’s house to take care of her. On the night of January 19, they went into their mother’s room and discovered that she had no pulse.
Xiuhua’s two daughters then started to plan the funeral. The got a coffin, found a burial site, bought food, and sent out invitations. But when the 101-year-old woman was placed into her coffin, her two daughters were shocked to see Xiuhau smiling up at them.
Xiuhua reportedly said: “Hello there.”

Thats why we have embalming. Removes any doubt.
that was always my mum's biggest fear, that she would be buried alive...she always said, make sure I'm dead before that lid goes down... lent some gallows humour to the funeral... (as she would have liked)

Good thing they didn't have her cremated.
lends a whole new meaning to that song: burn baby burn... lol

Have we discounted the possibility that this centarian is a zombie?

By all means, let's contemplate it.

I'm thinking that a centarian is not too spry when they're alive and since the walking dead are notoriously slow and plodding, I'd say this kind of zombie would be exactly my speed.

I don't enjoy running. ;)

well pointers for finding that one...lol... it's pretty freaky looking. I'm pretty sure that walking dead virus hit the whole earth so there have to be... chomp, chomp...

from another news article: The man who was holding Xiuhua's body at the time reportedly dropped her in a moment of panic. Ya think? Big points to him for not killing her, I mean really, that would be quite a shock.

And she's lucky she didn't break anything from being dropped.
