Somehow that doesn't surprise me. Just the other day I went shopping at my local grocery store. When I came out with my basket, I was pushing it between two cars and inadvertently "tapped" the mirror of a car with the basket. Crap! Pulled the basket away from the
car and continued to mine. Unloaded the basket and this lady came and started yelling at me that I scratched her car! Initially, I was surprised at her accusation so I told her I did not scratch her car and she pointed to the mirror. I went over and looked and there were several scratches on the mirror. I told her I only tapped her mirror and that I hardly did those scratches - obviously I wasn't the first one to "bump" her mirror.

She started ranting and raving - asked for my name and ph # (which I gave her) and she took a pic of my car license plate and she was going to call the police. She was calling people from all over the parking lot making a big deal out of it. So, not wanting to be part of the drama, I got in my car and promptly left. People were gathering around her car as she was becoming extremely emotional about the situation. I could hear her screaming - she's leaving, she's leaving. OMG - you'd think I stole her baby!! But to me, staying would have been worse and I would rather deal with the police than a raving lunatic.

In retrospect, I don't think I "scratched" her mirror when I bumped it but I may have inadvertently scratched it when I pulled the cart away from the car.

So, I'm waiting for her to calm down and when she calls ask her what she wants me to do about it. When I speak to her I will emphasize that she would have gotten a better response from me without the yelling and drama. Her over-reaction was mind-numbing. I will gladly pay for her to get the "scratches" on her mirror fixed.

Northern Ontario,
After you unloaded your shopping cart, you put it in the provided cart "racks"?
Nothing pisses me off like people who leave shopping carts willy nilly all over the parking lot.....

I 'm surprised that we don't see more video's like this.

In Regina we have one Costco, that was built with a barely
adequate parking lot, and they flog as many memberships
as possible.

Then they blocked of 25% of that lot to built a multi-multi lane
set of gas pumps....then they blocked off another chunk to
build a lube joint, then they've blocked of the far north end to
pop up a mini-mall.....

I've asked, "when are you all going to build a second location
'cuz this is ridiculous?" and was told that in a few years they
will build another location on the opposite end of town, and
then close this current location. Great....

Absolutely - always do. I too hate it when people can't be bothered to put the carts away.

Since we live close to the store and we go practically every day for fresh vegetables, I usually pick the small cart (our store doesn't seem to have enough of those)....
Easier to maneuver in the aisle....and we leave it in the indoor rack as we leave the store with grocery bags in hand....

Murder charge after man thrown from hood of car in Walmart parking lot dispute

A 25-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a man was thrown from the hood of a vehicle during a dispute in a big-box store parking lot in Midland, Ont., over the weekend.
Police were called to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a parking lot on Highway 12 in Midland, a town on Georgian Bay in Simcoe County.
Two men got into a fight shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, with one of the men ending up on the hood of the other’s car, OPP Det.-Insp. Martin Graham said Sunday.
“They encountered each other in the parking lot. There was an altercation, the altercation carried on. At some point, we have reports that the victim ended up on the hood of the vehicle and was then thrown from that vehicle.”
Investigators aren’t sure what sparked the dispute, Graham said.
Corby Stott, 29, was taken to Georgian Bay Hospital where he died.
Jason Heffernan was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.
The two men didn’t previously know each other, Graham said, and there was only one vehicle involved in the incident, a two-door Honda.
The big box plaza where the deadly encounter happened houses Walmart, Mark’s Work Warehouse, EB Games, Dollar Tree, Home Depot and several fast food outlets.
A popular spot for area cottagers picking up supplies, the plaza only has a single entrance and exit.
Employees at several of the stores said the plaza was especially busy over the Canada Day long weekend, resulting in chaos in the parking lot as vehicles waited up to 20 minutes to exit.
“I had people driving over the grass. It was kind of ridiculous,” said Tarryn Reineke, 20, an employee at EB Games.
The incident happened on a one-way road behind a section of the plaza containing Dollar Tree and Mark’s Work Warehouse.
“It’s not really supposed to be used for people to drive through. It’s actually just for delivery trucks,” said the manager at Mark’s Work Warehouse.
Shoppers often use that road in a bid to avoid the bottleneck of traffic, said plaza employees.
Police remained on the scene Saturday night but had cleared it by Sunday morning. The OPP are assisting Midland police in the investigation.
Heffernan was remanded to custody Sunday. He’s scheduled to appear Wednesday in a Barrie court.
A post-mortem was performed Sunday on Stott in Toronto, but the results haven’t been released.
An online fundraising page was set up Sunday for Stott’s sons. The father of two lived in Wyevale, a small community located 11 kilometres south of Midland, and worked at Bourgeois Motors Ford, according to his Facebook profile.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have photographs or video to contact Midland police at 705-526-2201 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Accused in Walmart parking lot murder appears in court
By Tracy McLaughlin, Special to Postmedia Network

BARRIE - A London man charged with second-degree murder after a confrontation in an over-crowded parking lot on the long weekend made a brief appearance in court Wednesday.

Jason Heffernan, of London, is charged with the second-degree murder of Corby Stott, 29, a father of two from Tiny Township.

Heffernan stood in the prisoner’s box in handcuffs. He will remain in custody and will be back in court on July 27 where a date will be set for his bail hearing.

Police say the two men got involved in an altercation in the Walmart parking lot in Midland on Saturday.

Somehow the victim ended up on the hood of the vehicle and then was thrown, police say. In the jammed parking lot Stott had to be picked up by helicopter and taken to the Midland hospital where he died of head injuries.

One woman who works near the plaza says the crowded parking lot with several large stores but only one exit was a tragedy waiting to happen.

“That parking lot is enough to drive people insane on a hot weekend,” said Piper Merritt. She says on weekends cottagers shop for supplies here and it’s common for people to get trapped in the traffic line for 45 minutes.

“On a hot day it drives people to madness. There is no other way out,” Merritt said.

Tributes on a Facebook page for the victim have been pouring in.

“Stott, you were a good man, a great dad. This is an unforgettable loss,” wrote one friend.

Heffernan’s lawyer Sean Robichaud had no comment.

GATES, N.Y. -- Authorities are continuing to investigate a 30-person brawl at a western New York Walmart that led to four arrests.
Gates Police Chief Jim VanBrederode says the fight started around 7 p.m. Sunday after two 17-year-olds made fun of a dress worn by a 24-year-old woman. He says the altercation quickly escalated into a melee.
The chief says people went into the sporting goods section of the store and got baseball bats to use in the fight.
Police say a 17-year-old girl threw a can of food at a 52-year-old man, hitting him in the head. She's charged with assault, harassment and related offences. Three others have been charged with disorderly conduct.
Authorities are continuing to review surveillance video.
