I know what you meant but what is the difference between the US and Canadian versions?

The Canadian versions never air the entire schedule of the American channel.

And they always air them days later or months later or not at all.

And they need a minimum Canadian content level so they take repeats from CBC and CTV and air them to reach the mandate.

Its really messy.

All our non-network channels that are Canadian versions are messy crap.

I only watch the OTA networks and the pure american specilaty channels, because the Canadian ones always screw up.

So the more pure american specialty channels the better..

go here, and fill out your comments and hopefully you'll give your support to Shaw to allow us to get the straight unadalterated USA Network channel.

Not a canadian version, the pure network.

As most of you know: the more pure American channels the better.

Thanks!
I don't even know what the USA network shows? I dunno man, it doesn't really matter to me. If it's something that matters to you, I supporty you on it, but, to me...well, like I said, I don't even know what the USA network runs. I didn't even know there WAS a USA network.

schedule and series:

Wiki info:

USA Network is a popular American cable TV network with about 89 million household subscribers as of 2005. The network shows a variety of original and second-run programming, from syndicated TV series to edited movies. USA also shows some sports coverage, such as select golf tournaments, the U.S. Open (tennis), and annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show. Since 2004, they have broadcast portions of the Olympic Games, along with many other NBC Universal basic cable channels. Previously, it had a weekly boxing show named USA Tuesday Night Fights, which ran for 17 years. USA was also the home of World Wrestling Entertainment (then called the World Wrestling Federation or WWF)'s flagship cable TV shows from the channel's launch until September 2000, and currently since October 2005.
Once a minor player in basic cable, the network has steadily been gaining popularity recently, thanks in part to breakout hits like the detective series Monk, Psych (a series about a fake psychic who helps solves crimes), the return of WWE Raw, and the sci-fi mini-series turned regular series The 4400 and the psychic series based on the novel by Stephen King The Dead Zone. Reruns of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent are also frequently shown and are popular on the network, as is another NBC Universal property, House.

You've never heard of it because Canada blocks out American tv for stupid reasons.

Its one of the first cable channels ever.

Has lots of hit series, sports, and movies.

It would offer lots of extra programming to you snfu.

And snfu you are on Shaw (from other thread), Shaw is the one behind this getting it in Canada... this channel would be available on analog cable.

No, I don't think most of us know that. It certainly isn't obvious how life is improved by having more pure American channels, in Canada or anywhere else. Sometimes I wonder what country you think you live in. Given what you've told us about your news sources, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't know there was a new federal budget tabled in Parliament earlier this week that might materially affect you, depending on your circumstances and occupation. I don't imagine Fox News or CNN paid any attention to it.

Watch Canadian TV. Absolutely no way would I lend support to getting pure american bs onto more canadian tv's. I've seen what an excess of american programming does, and it isn't good.

Majority of our top 30 Canadian entries are respectfully news and sports.

Notice how 90% of Canada's top 30 series are American?

"Canadian" tv is a joke.

And USA Network has no media.

lets take a look at our Canadian versions of American networks:

Comedy Network (Canadian) - similar to Comedy Central (American)

Airs some of Comedy Central's lineup and some hit shows months later (eg. there #1 show South Park is months off), and they cross-network to reach their mandated Canadian content status-qou.

By airing Corner Gas, Robson Arms, Just for Laughs, CBC Comedy Festival, 22 Minutes, Air Farce, all on CTV or CBC already to get their basic Canadian content levels.

Canadians love American programming.

And this is not a media channel, so no offense karrie your way off base here... WAY OFF

No, I have no problem with American shows.. (and BTW, 21 out of 30 programs is not 90%, it's 70%).

But, I have a problem with Canadian people watching American commercials, American PSA's, American news updates, etc. There is a difference between an exclusively American channel, and a Canadian channel carrying American content. I'm sick of seeing Canadian youth who don't understand that they're not really American. Canadian youth who think we're at war in Iraq. No, I won't lend support to adding more americanization to my country. And that's not off base, that's just drawing a line in the sand.

I agree I wouldn’t want to have our television dominated by “pure” American channels. I would like to see more foreign channels though and that would include American channels. So more American chanells is good if it is also balanced with an inclusion of more other foreign content.
