Try Canada, bizzymum. It is a breath of fresh air compared to USA. Much more liberal, much more tolerant, more progressive. No restrictions on abortion of any kind, no death penalty, universal health care, longer life expectancy, lower infant mortality, lower maternal mortality than USA (which is not really saying a lot).

No discrimination of any kind against gays (gay marriage is legal all over Canada). Lower budget deficit than USA, lower unemployment than USA, no plunging house prices. Strict gun control, very low crime rate (much lower than that of USA), very low murder rate.

Canada is a regular hellhole, proper Sodom and Gomorrah in the eyes of conservative Republicans (and in the eyes of extreme right wing Canadians, there are a couple of them in this forum).

Even with a right wing ideologue for the PM, Canada is a much better place than USA.

That's a pretty poor assessment. She obviously doesn't agree with a lot of what the US is and seems to want to have a better life elsewhere. That indicates that she has enough self-respect to want to live in a better place and is hardly an indication of self-loathing. In other words, she doesn't like her present environment. That has nothing to do with how she views herself.

UN carries out a study every year and ranks the counties of the world regarding the quality of life. Canada consistently ranks at the top or near the top as the best place in the world to live.

According to 2009 rankings, Canada ranks 4th in the world, behind Norway, Australia and Iceland (and one has to question Iceland’s ranking, considering the financial problems they have had recently). By comparison, USA comes at no. 13.

I used to compare countries by certain medical stats like life expectancy and infant mortality, but I don't anymore. Most official journals come with big warnings about differences among methodologies in tallying these stats. These comparisons aren't very useful.
