Gee ... He's aiming a tad low for something in flight....
He's such a pro that he's planning on ricocheting the round off something to hit the drone from beneath. ;-P
The CAF should really be using UAVs--they're so bloody cheap and you don't risk pilots (I'm sure pilots just love the idea, heh).
Theoretically, on-board "AI" (logic systems) using pattern recognition technology is good enough so that you could program the thing to go from base to the target, destroy it an come back again without human control. That means that radio interference wouldn't be a problem (i.e. in a conflict involving more than rag-tag opponents).
I say grow-up the uber-puritanical CAF and start using this $hit for *our* strategic goals. Just think if we'd had one of these flying over Kigali when that bloody radio station started with the genocidal BS--drone releases drop bomb >oops< there goes the radio station and the militants' means of coordinating the genocide--and all it took was 100,000 for drone, bomb, fuel, etc.
As for border patrol...eh...whatever. The baddies tunnel their crap in here so it's not much use in that department (that is, when they're not sending it in via first-class mail).
As ofr the prevention of terrorists entering the USA from Canada: I'm curious, just how often does that happen (if at all)? (Pardon my ignorance but I worry more about the few we have here pulling some lunatic stunt in TO rather than if they will make it past the two RCMP snoring in a watchtower on the border.)
