Amber Alert Taken Down, But Michelle’s “Let’s Move” Still Up

We reported earlier that the DOJ had ceased operation of the Amber Alert website that helps save missing children. Here’s what it normally looks like.

But interestingly, Let’s Move, Michelle Obama’s pet project against childhood obesity had its site, letsmove.gov still up.

In a White House of skewed priorities, who in their right mind could possibly think that helping to save missing children was ‘less essential”?

Oh, sorry, I forgot who we have titularly at the helm of government.

The choices being made by President Stompy Foot have justly earned the White House a new name: the #Spitehouse

The 50 million is not accurate.
Obama is on a spending spree and has no plan to decrease spending.
Guess what happens.
ObamaCare has increased the use of part time workers- those that were over the, 30 hrs or so had their hours reduced so business would ot incur costs.

Care to list what Obama is willing to cut.

No you're right, the actual numbers of people who weren't adequately covered in the US is probably higher than 100 million when you look at how sleazy many of the "insurance" companies are. I don't know about now but there used to be so many loopholes in coverage that it's hard to even know what's covered until you're sick. That's speaking from hard experience.

There's something sick with a system that puts a lot of resources into figuring out how to keep people from getting the care they need. The first priority should be care then profit...if at all. There are some things in life that are more important than money, but you wouldn't know that the way some people think and act.

And I much prefer Obama allocating resources to something beneficial to people in contrast to the last administration that spent trillions on absolute **** no on needed like the war in Iraq and the economic meltdown that was entirely preventable if someone in office had actually given a damn.

The fact that Obama is even tackling this issue is to his credit, this nonsense about him not caring only makes sense if you think the Bush/Cheney nightmare made sense.

You speak quite highly of Obama's plan.... Let me ask you; why has he exempted himself from it?

No, I said it's to Obama's credit that he even tried on such an important issue.

I think the American political system is so screwed up by dirty money that there's no way to pass legislation that actually meets the needs of the average American.

You should REALLY check your facts.

National Debt by Year

Between 2000 and 2008, "Dubya" increased the debt from 5.67 Trillion to 10.025 Trillion............4.355 Trillion in EIGHT years.

Between 2008 and 2012. Obama increased the debt from 10.025 Trillion to 16.356 Trillion......6.331 Trillion in FOUR years.

"Debt" doesn't necessarily = spending. Quite the mess Obama was left with, isn't it?

Jay Carney: Closing Amber Alert Website Not a Political Move

White House press secretary Jay Carney said the closing of the AMBER Alert website did not interfere with law enforcement operations, and was not a political move to make the government shutdown more painful.

“That is of course not the case,” Carney told reporters Monday when asked if shutting the website down was a political move. He said the Department of Justice is handling the matter.

“I would refer you to DOJ about how the website is administered, but, I can tell you that the website that DOJ maintains is informational. It is not a law enforcement tool used to issue AMBER Alerts, and at no point during the shutdown has the AMBER Alert system been interrupted,” Carney continued.

The American people elected Obama and his legislation has survived SCOTUS challenge. It is law. For the extreme right to ignore the result of a national election and the highest court in America and try to blackmail the nation into changing duly made law should be punished. Obviously the US still has not matured as a democracy.

The American people elected the House of Representatives, and they control the purse strings, as is traditional for the peoples' legislature. It is how modern democracy came to be.....

You might not know this, but in America people vote for both the leader and the party on separate ballots.

That is because American legislators don't care about the average American.

Excuses.

One program for the proletariat and another (better) one for the gubmint.

When the previous program for the working poor was equal to 'let them eat cake' anything is a step in the right direction. Would it be better to just figure out a way to completely fund universal healthcare and equal access to everyone? You bet it would, but you have to start somewhere and if the Republicans (well any of the legislators) really cared about the people they would be looking for a way to close holes in the law and ensure everyone got healthcare instead of trying to repeal it and leave millions without a way to afford it.
