All quiet outside Sunak's house in Richmond

The BBC'S Victoria Derbyshire is outside Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's house in his constituency of Richmond, Yorkshire

She says it's been very quiet there and Sunak is inside, no doubt absorbing the news of the exit poll. "If it's accurate, he'll be contemplating the defeat, the brutal battering he has led his party to," she tells the BBC's election programme.

We're expecting a result from Sunak's constituency at about 04:00 BST.

The prime minister took to X a short while ago to say: "To the hundreds of Conservative candidates, thousands of volunteers and millions of voters: Thank you for your hard work, thank you for your support, and thank you for your vote."

Starmer thanks voters for putting 'trust in our changed party'

Labour leader Keir Starmer smiles outside a polling station

Reaction to the exit poll - which predicts a Labour landslide - continues to come in.

Keir Starmer has now expressed his gratitude to everyone who worked and voted for his party.

In a post on X, he says: "To everyone who has campaigned for Labour in this election, to everyone who voted for us and put their trust in our changed Labour Party - thank you."

Hey! We too have two Greens, one sober and one not at any given time (the same one is sober 99% of the time, & the other one is the leader of the party).

Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsay are the two Green leaders.

Denyer is the first openly bisexual person to lead a British political party. During the election campaign, a YouGov poll found that 53% of Green Party supporters did not recognise a photo of Denyer.

Rachel Reeves set to become first female Chancellor of the Exchequer as 14 years of Tory rule end

Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves tells the BBC that "people are crying out for change" and "have voted for that in huge numbers".

She's cautious about the exit poll, but says if the night unfolds as it suggests then "this is going to be an almost unprecedented landslide majority for the Labour Party - that would give us the mandate to make the changes that our country needs".

Co-Leaders of the Green Party there too? The other Co-Leader of our Canadian Green Party isn’t one of the two Greens in Parliament, and I’ve no idea what his name is, or if he identifies as a he, etc…samezies!!

Yeah. Most people don't give a shit about the Greenies. In this country the only two seats they are set two win will likely be Brighton Pavilion and maybe a Bristol constituency.

PM-elect Keir Starmer is all smiles as he arrives to a round of applause at his constituency count - Holborn and St Pancras - in North London.

The former Head of the Crown Prosecution Service is clearly delighted with the way things are going.

Brexiteer George Galloway and former friend of Saddam Hussein, leader of the Workers' Party of Great Britain, has finished second to his Labour candidate in Rochdale. So that's another seat for Labour.

The first Scottish seat has declared: Labour have taken Kilmarnock from the Scottish nationalists SNP. The SNP are predicted to lose 38 seats.

Same. They’re there for comic relief. On a map of Canada, they’re in ridings 27 & 45.

I live in Canada & I only knew where one of them was…& if you dig out your magnifying monocular device, you probably still might not find either one.

The Monster Raving Looney Party candidate in a wacky costume lets out a hilarious "Thank you!" as he wins just over 200 votes in Chessington. The seat is held by Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey, who is making his victory speech. He got 25,870 votes.

Meanwhile Labour Party deputy leader Angela Rayner - will she be Deputy PM? - makes her victory speech as she remains Ashton-under-Lyne MP with 15,573 votes.

Reform's Robert Barrowcliffe finishes second.

Reform leader Nigel Farage is arriving at the count in Clacton-on-Sea. Is he about to become an MP for the first time?

What drama.

PM-elect Keir Starmer retains Holborn and St Pancras, with 18,884 votes. However, his vote is down 17% from 2019.

He's making his victory speech.

"Change begins in this community", says the man who will become PM tomorrow. "This is your democracy."

Defence Secretary is gone

The Government disintegrates.

Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has been booted out as an MP by the voters of Welwyn. Labour's Andrew Lewin takes the seat with 41% of the vote.
