Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has won in Islington North as an Independent.

It's the first Independent candidate win since the 2001 General Election.

The percentage drop of the Tory vote is so far worse than any party since the 1835 General Election.

More Cabinet ministers have lost their seat in this election - 10 so far - than at any other election. There has previously been only 12 Cabinet ministers losing their seats since 1974.

Outgoing PM Rishi Sunak has retained his seat of Richmond and Northallerton.

Despite Labour not yet having crossed the threshold of 326 seats needed to win, Sunak has conceded defeat and says he has called Starmer to congratulate him on his victory.

Sunak wins with 23,059 votes.

Labour’s Tom Wilson got 10,874, and Reform got more than 7,000 votes.

Also worth a mention - Count Binface (a man dressed as a bin) got 308 votes.

I've congratulated Starmer on winning election - Sunak

Rishi Sunak's speaking after it was announced that he'd held on to his seat in Richmond, Yorkshire.

In a fairly short speech, he says "Labour has won this election" and that he's called Keir Starmer to congratulate him.

Labour are now on 304 seats and need 326 to win.

It's only a matter of time. Starmer is about to be just the seventh Labour PM.

Jeremy Hunt narrowly avoided becoming the first Chancellor of the Exchequer to lose his seat.

In his victory speech he congratulated PM-elect Keir Starmer and Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves and said how proud he is to live in a country in which "bombs and bullets do not decide elections."

Next Prime Minister Keir Starmer is addressing cheering supporters in central London.

Keir Starmer tells them "thank you truly - you have changed our country".

After reaching the required 326 seats to win the general election, he says "a mandate like this comes with a great responsibility".

He adds that the task of a Labour government is "nothing less than renewing the ideas that hold our country together".

"We have to return politics to public service," he goes on, adding his government will "show it can be a force for good".
