How is 890k bbls of bitumen a day through Vancouver going to open the taps?

BC needs to forget about gasoline. Even at current prices alternatives are cost effective . with prices over $2 a liter alternatives will become necessary
Drive hydro .

The taps are open now wait till they get squeezed shut until B.C. quits being hypocritical about pipelines

Maybe B.C. should offer tax relief on the gas, to make it affordable
and how does permitting the KM expansion lower gas prices in BC?

But the link to Kinder Morgan delays is indisputable, he said.
“It’s definitely related to supply: acute and chronic supply issues that bedeviled the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island for quite some time,” he told StarMetro. “As far as Kinder Morgan is concerned, the impact that brings forward is the timing. (Trans Mountain) isn’t just about diluted bitumen, but an additional 50,000 barrels of gasoline and light fuel.”
It’s not just McTeague suggesting Kinder Morgan delays may be worsening our painful prices at the pump.
Another expert often cited in news reports is Roger McKnight, chief petroleum analyst for En-Pro, who wrote in a statement online that Canadian “short term gas prices are being influenced by geo politics rather than hard number supply and demand data,” and hinted the Lower Mainland’s record-high prices could relate to Trans Mountain uncertainty: “How much of the price is the Kinder Morgan doubt or fear factor is anyone’s guess.”

Speaking on Monday in Vancouver, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also jumped on the gas price-pipeline bandwagon, telling reporters that because Canada is now exporting oil only to the U.S. it’s losing “about $15-billion annually by not exporting it to other markets through an expanded pipeline.”
“Canada currently ships oil only to the United States and loses about $15-billion annually by not exporting it to other markets through an expanded pipeline.”
“Part of the challenge that folks across the Lower Mainland and B.C. are facing right now is related to the fact that we are connected so closely to the U.S. market and to what happens in the U.S.”

He won’t read your link as it requires thought and might go against his world view .

Too many gvt pigs at the trough wanting more taxes.

Just look at the amount BCers pay in taxes on gas
Approx . Fifty two cents a litre tax in B.C.s lower mainland at present . I wonder how the governments are going to fill their coffers once everybody switches to electric ?

Hidden in the OP where nobody will ever find it.

But I really don't even need one because this is yours:

"Energy expert laughs at idea Kinder Morgan delay caused high gas prices"

Nice work,

So your theory is that bitumen will come through the KM pipeline from Alberta and go to a refinery in Washington state - at a reduced price because the expansion will allow Alberta to sell it cheaper and thats their pipeline dream.

That is quite a plan i must say,

No because Trans Mountain pumps fuel more than crude to BC.

Don't count out gvt just yet on that file.

They may be idiots as a general rule, but they sure know how to create rafts of new tax schemes
