Nope but FN participated in drafting it
FN? Haha they weren't FNs, they were 'Just Indians' whose country was going to be taken over by the tremendous might of the invaders whether they liked it or not.

Anyway, TM; please do expand, with credible references, on the notion that those Indians (which ones and how many?) participated in drafting the Indian Act, willingly or otherwise.

No. But I recognize that 'the Indians' who entered into them must have felt they had little choice.

Do you know what ceded means? Of course any conquered nations feel the same way, but special provisions were given and now being manipulated due to Oral history. Same as Quebec after France was defeated

Mowich's post tells you were to go
Here I will spoon feed you

Thank you. Courteously explaining what you refer to needs no spoon.

I see Mowich's concern was to find suggestions as to how juries could be made more representative of our diversity, without seeming to tamper with the selection process. I'm not familiar with the jury selection process. Maybe I'll check it out; maybe not.

TM, you didn't answer this:
Are you saying that most FN people value the Indian Act and want it left as-is?

If you were FN wouldn't you want it changed for more concessions? I did answer you when I said the participated in amendments to the Indian act.

Now we know why he welcomed it, CC - because it was going nowhere being that it, like the Justice Committee - is stacked with liberals. What's next I wonder? Can't see the little potato calling for a public inquiry and if anyone else could do it one might think it would already be in progress. More interviews with the press?

Did you intend to be insulting by asking whether I know what 'ceded' means? Of course I do know: let me give you an example.

A colleague was sent to manage a major project in a country notorious for corruption & gangsterism. He rented a home in a rural area outside the city, and furnished it (whether on the company's tab or - unlikely - his own, I don't know.) In the middle of the night a truck pulled up outside his door and disgorged a group of well-armed desperadoes. they brandished their weapons and said 'We're taking your furniture.'

He ceded the furniture.

I understand the word 'ceded.'

That wasn't the question, which was:

Are you saying (That's YOU, SAYING) that most FN people value the Indian Act and want it left as-is?

What did you call yourself last time you were on this forum? Tiger can't change his stripes, I answered you multiple times, I can't answer for FN's people, I gave you fact and opinion, take it or leave it, no need to respond. unless you feel the need to have the last word.

TM: I'm sorry you feel brow-beaten. Sincerely; I'd rather you felt we could have a conversation about issues and not each other's personality or intelligence. Merriam-Webster says it means 'to frighten into submission.' Definitely not my goal and if it were I see no evidence of it working.

I don't think I'm browbeating anyone by stating or trying to back up my opinions - nor by asking others to explain or give supporting evidence for theirs.

Personal rudeness, slights, needless sarcasm & insulting implications I despise, although there's always a temptation to respond in kind - a temptation I want (& often try) to ignore.
