That's not a bad idea... but how will either country be able to get up in each others grills?

There are a few countries between us. Could be tricky.

Even the Caribbean could be a step up from our weather. Heck, think of the economic boom Haiti would experience if it joined Canada. Haiti is desperate for cash and Canadians are desperate for good weather.

Now that is a great idea too... Canada annexing Haiti. I'd like to see that.

I was thinking of Canada and Russia becoming a customs union, but how is that supposed to improve Canadians' access to good weather when Russia's is almost as bad as ours overall.

No force needed. We'd just need to remind them of all of the investment and tourist they'd get in the winter, and they'd be scrambling to join.

You don't figure a Haitian earthquake could offset our good weather?

Puh-LENTY of fixer uppers!

I'm sure the Brits wouldn't mind.

Do what Putin did: invade then call a referendum. Minor problem though: British weather is better than Canadian weather, plus the UK has 5 times our population and GDP roughly. They'd be insane to turn their backs on the UK for us.

You want a vacation spot right?

Iqaluit might be safer!

Wrong- U.K. has fewer than twice our population. I guess if fog and rain are criterion of better weather I guess you are right. :)

Then again, with Canada's weather being what it is, the British Virgin Islands might get more tourism if they joined Canada. Plus the fact that they'd be closer to Canada than the UK.

Why is it such an important date for Canada? Days come and go.

It's not. It just helps ES to think so.

Our illustrious PM disagrees with you both. He stated that it was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ring in the New Year together". Obviously, he didn't feel that his fellow Canadians were worth his time.

In the case of Carrier, Trump is happy to let them send quite a few jobs to Mexico, as long as they keep a few in the US.

So, the standard is set. You can get money out of a Trump regime if you plan to send X jobs offshore, then agree to keep about a third of them in the US.

Excuse me, but isn't that betterr than nothing?

Why has Canaduh not got nukeyoular weapons. North Korea could flatten Canada some afternoon.

I can take my vacation time whenever I want. Interestingly, the new norm for many progressive organizations is no maximum for holiday time. My girlfriend works for ATB and they don't care how many days she takes as long as she meets her goals.

Trudeau probably works on his vacation. It just allows him to get away from the things that distract from family time he would inevitably deal with in Ottawa.

BTW, I was supposed to work a half day on the 23rd, 28th, 29th and 30th so only 16 hours the final week of 2016. Call outs meant I work an additional 26 hours so I'll probably take an extra 3 days in Phoenix this year

Appears junior practices this knock off whenever you feel the urge work ethic, trouble is we pay for all his and his entourages' hookey + their tents & hot dogs and carbon. Nuther thing is he like trump or putin is a head of state and with that comes the dreaded responsibility word that peons can accept or reject. Heads of state don't routinely enjoy this 'think I'll knock off for a week or two' whenever the mood strikes luxury, the idea of working whilst on vacation is not a vacation. In the case of junior though we need to temper the term work as his heritage and his previous employment choices hardly equate to the term which helps to explain his lackadaisical attitude.

gerryh gets it Obviously, he didn't feel that his fellow Canadians were worth his time. sez it all.

Hehehe...Only a fool would believe a Prime Minister or President doesn't work on a vacation. These are more for the family than they are for the leader.

The urge to work has nothing to do with it. You work when there is work to do. That's the difference between the older generation and the younger generation.

Get with the times, Gerryh. We can all be together online today. It's not like the snail-mail days of yore.
