Proof: Are they paying taxes like Canadian tax payers and have elected officials (MP's) representing their constituencies on these land claims? No.

First Nations groups do have MPs representing their constituencies on their land.

Are these lands called First Nations lands or Canadian land? First Nations. Do these land claims exist as opposed to being Canada? Yes they exist.[

Reservations are a part of Canada. Canadian law applies, people born there are Canadian citizens and they take part in Canadian elections. To say that they are the land of a First Nations group does not preclude it from also being Canadian land. If you go to Manitoba, you can say it's Manitoba without denying it's also Canada. If you buy property you can tell people it's your land, but it's still Canada. Municipal, provincial and federal laws still apply.

A simple matter of deduction reveals the obvious fact because if they wanted to be a part of the Canadian governing system then they quite obviously wouldn't have land claim treaties forged to begin with!

The opposite is true. First Nations were on the land when the Canadian/British government showed up. The government claimed the land belonged to the crown, but they had no legal backing for it. The treaties confirmed government jurisdiction over First Nations land. It set certain rights and responsibilities. Those land treaties are a part of the Canadian constitution and lay out the conditions of government dominion over them.

Constitutionally, reserve land is like a quasi-province (maybe more like a territory) though different treaties spell out different things. When certain provinces joined Confederation, they negotiated conditions. BC, for example, demanded a railroad be built connecting the coasts. Amid all the high-minded language of freedom and equality the Charter of Rights and Freedoms includes specific provisions for language and education rights in New Brunswick. In general, our constitutions delineate certain powers to provinces and territories. Would you suggest that because of these reserve powers and special rights that some provinces are not a part of Canada? But it is the same logic you are applying to First Nation's land claims.

Part of the Balkanization of Canada which sees the nation merely as conglomerate of independent cultural singularities.. with an absolute capitulation to officially designated 'victims groups'.. which has become a cynical instrument of aboriginal lobbies.

The only sustainable way to define a country is by the way of the primary responsibility of all of its citizens to Canada as whole, with equality of law and opportunity for all within that.. including taxation.

The best thing that ever happened to aboriginals was the establishment of Canada which drew them out of the cycle of die offs from famine and disease of 'hunter gatherer societies'.. which are unable to sustain a fraction of the population density of agricultural and industrial societies. It also provided an exit from the deep pessimism and inertia of paganism.. if they chose to accept the Western alternative.

It's time we got over this idiotic syndrome white man's guilt. Aboriginal culture was as violent, avaricious and exploitive as anything that appeared after the European incursion. It was racked with war, genocide, human sacrifice, slavery. It lacked the fundamental intellectual and scientific tools to reform itself.

'Multiculturalism' has been an utter failure.. as has the the idolatry of primitive culture.. free of the 'plague' of technology and Christianity.. that acuates post-modern values.

Actually, the choice, is easy, we stick with what we have otherwise if the stumble bums get in it just incurs a whole lot of extra unnecessary expense, new signs, new stationery and letter heads, severance packages for disgruntled ex deputies and contractors etc. Complete refurbishing of 33 Sussex for the new Mrs. not to mention the new members will be absolutely useless for the first year, while they learn the ropes and find all the washrooms etc.
